I see the smokescreens are going up early this year.. Late round is prime trade up spot for a team needing a QB.. Jerry putting bait out there..

That's why NFL teams hire real GMs with knowledge of everything from scouting to roster building to salary cap management. Jerry thinks it's a hobby.

I certainly hope this doesn't mean he will force a pick because that will be a waste.

Also, it is not just picking a QB. It is also what he does with Dak's contract. Dak cannot be traded although drafting a QB in the 1st round might get Dak to change his mind about that.

Dak with running ability - much better runner than Dak ever was!
Both questionable passers, but like you said, fluidity in running and overall play, such as quicker release, Hurts definitely has the advantage. QBs like Hurts and Dak are not the type of guys you will get consistent franchise play around them.

Hurts was awful last year, especially against us when Quinn was pressing the WRs from the snap and there is nothing impressive about him. There system is maximizing his skill-set, but he will level off quickly IMO and if they give him a huge contract, that will suck for them.

Hopefully the advanced stats nerds come up with a way to quantify 'huddle command'.
Buzzing. Ok it took Jerry 7 years to see it but hey it takes some people a wee bit more time than others. What matters is that he got there in the end.

LOL.

You guys are overthinking this.

Jerry is just saying they are gonna start throwing late round picks at QBs. Anyone thinking they are investing a Top 3 round pick on a QB is delusional until they admit Dak isn't the guy.
If this was last year I'd probably agree with you. Not so sure anymore. It's a huge mistake if they don't get one in the first 3 rounds this draft

We are talking about Jerry Jones.

The same GM who didnt know a WR was a LB. Or something like that.

Translate people........they are at odds with Dak about his future. For them to start talking in public .........things have NOT gone well behind closed doors.

This is a clear message to Dak and his agent IMO
You are really reading what you want to read in this. They are note taking a 48 million dollar cap hit on Prescott this. They aren't. For better or worse they have no intentions to move on.

You are reading coffee grounds and calling them tea leaves

I knew it!

Jaren Hall here we come!
Hope he does better than his first practice at the Sr. Bowl. Reports were that he was terrible. He is intriguing though as well as th kid from Standford.

Oh I do.

However. He didnt say in what round. LOL.
He didnt say in what round brother. LOL. Jerry is a master salesman remember.
I love how everybody gets into Dak Prescott mode when all this comment means is this:

The Joneses are reactionary, so I could see them drafting one as early as the second round because of how the Eagles succeeded by taking Hurts when they already had Wentz.
Cowboys using a 2nd round pick on a QB?
Has not happened in over two decades___Quincy Carter - 53rd selection overall in 2001.

Hurts is a system QB.
Philly has a great defense and run game
I heard Sean Payton say this week that “the Eagles are doing (innovative) things in the run game that NO ONE IN THE NFL IS DOING”
Think about that statement for a second from a very very good HC who has been in the league 20 years
Meanwhile every team we play says that our offense is “simple” before and after the game

I think if it’s a fair competition in training camp any round QB could possibly take Dak’s starting job.

Of course this allows every NFL team to know we’re targeting QB in rds 2/3 and they can trade up ahead of us if there is someone they like

I would say “Jerry is a moron” that would be the understatement of the year so I won’t

I doubt he is there at 26 but I wonder if they would pull the trigger on UF Anthony Richardson.
At 26? Goodness I hope not. He was pretty bad this year at least for the first half of the season, right?
