Jerry: Cowboys are committed to drafting a QB

Hurts is a system QB.
Philly has a great defense and run game
I heard Sean Payton say this week that “the Eagles are doing (innovative) things in the run game that NO ONE IN THE NFL IS DOING”
Think about that statement for a second from a very very good HC who has been in the league 20 years
Meanwhile every team we play says that our offense is “simple” before and after the game
When you made this comment about Payton, I went and did a quick search in regards to fixing Russell Wilson. This is what he said:

"You correct flaws immediately, and then we don't worry about how long the process is going to take," Payton said. "In other words, I'd want a cut-up today of all of Russell's pass plays of 30 or more yards from the field and I'd want to see, 'Are there some schemes that he felt very comfortable with?'"

Payton also said he'd take a close look at what made Wilson successful in Seattle.

"I know they did a great job in Seattle of bringing him off of a naked boot and then pulling up," Payton said. "And then we all saw that throwback to Tyler Lockett across the field where the ball traveled 60 yards in the air."

As I said in the past, Dallas generally avoided throwing out of 3-5-7 step drop-backs for Dak under center. Some folks tried t counter this by saying, the 7 step frop was a dying art, but Dallas with Dak was bottom-of-the-barrell irrespective. If you notice, they basically had Dak doing drop-backs out of shot-gun, nothing really out from under center, which obviously is going to make you more predictable..

Obviously, the implication is a good OC selects plays that the QB is good at. This brings us to question of the route-calls Moore selected with Dak. Obviously he isnt going to have those limitations with Herbert, who can make any throws and goes through his progressions with ease.

ahhh. you aren't advocating for him just saying what Jerry might do. Makes me feel better & very afraid at the same time.
An interesting name to remember is Jake Haener from Fresno St. I see a little Romo to his game not that it means much, but he is a winner, and looks worst case a 10 year high end backup. That has a lot of value as a mid round type.

I am SHOCKED Jerry Jones said this publicly.

He really must be finally sick of the ROI on guys like #4 and his gimpy buddy who lines up behind him.

I mean, this wasn’t him saying something like….”we will look at all options.”

It just him saying the trust in Dak is over with. I’m truly surprised, but it sounds to me like he in genuinely pissed at those he paid and gave him little back. Wow.

Trade this year's 1st 3rd and 5th and next year's 1st to Detroit #6 and get cj stroud if he's still there
Sorry to burst the bubble, but going from mid twenties, all the way up to 6, when a franchise QB is sitting there, will take more than that. A lot more. At least another 1st.

He didnt say in what round brother. LOL. Jerry is a master salesman remember.
Master salesman?

Maybe nack in the day when dudes went door to door selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedia sets....

He's not a master of ANYTHING that's relevant to this century though (aside from getting horrible plastic surgery to the point where his face looks like a 135 year old woman)

Judging by the teams you follow. Sales are good.

I sure hope he means it.

The other important part of this strategy is to always keep at least 3 QB's on the roster.
That is the only way to develop young QB talent, and is wise regardless.

The problem is that the quick routes require understanding the defense and throwing with anticipation and accurately

Yep, that’s the problem

JJ committed to drafting a QB means we are going to use our 7th round pick on a QB that would of went undrafted that we could of signed after the draft....such a shrewd owner he is ......

10+ years ago, when I realized Romo does not have the "IT" factor, I posted that if I were a GM of a team stuck in the middle to late picks and looking for QB, I would draft a QB in 4th or 5th round every year and I might get lucky and pick a Brady sort of QB. What am I gonna lose? a 4th or 5th? I am stuck with no QB so I am going no where.

Maybe they are both correct. They are going to redraft Dak. With a 1st round selection.

Like Parcells said, “consider yourself sucked”

He will draft Stephen McGee 2.0 just to say “I told you so!”
