Jerry has to be negotiating with MM right now right?

It expires today, Big Dog.

The Cowboys have an exclusive window to negotiate until January 14th. But, can give permission to other teams to interview McCarthy.

But, as of today, Big Mike is no longer under contract.
Given the fact that he isn't under contract, if McCarthy wanted to take the interview there is nothing the Cowboys can really do to stop him or the Bears.

Imagine being placed in a lame duck situation going into this past season.

Then imagine allowing your contract to expire continuing to leave you in professional limbo.

Then imagine your boss saying he wants coaches to agree to an incentive-based deal.

Finally, then you hear your boss may want you back but with even less authority (removing play calling) than you already didn’t have.

So, less authority, less pay, and all of the dysfunction you can handle.

Why would anyone want to come back to that nonsense? And if you do, what does that say about you?

The
His contract doesn't expire until the 14th. And you know how the Jones clan negotiates deals - the last minute.

With the hay already being in the barn I'm not sure they are talking right now. Jerry doesn't think rationally like most fans.
They can negotiate with him now. He’s our guy under contract. But can’t sign till the 14th

If you are Mike McCarthy wouldn't you want to hit free agency and see if maybe the bears would pay you more than 6 a year? I know I would at this point or atleast use it as some leverage to getting paid in the 12-15 range if jerry wants him o sign before the 14th.
Jerry ain’t paying 12-15 when his attitude is 500 coaches can coach this team. I know he was specifically talking about the team Jimmy built, but he operated for 30 years devaluing coaching save for the brief Tuna years.

Agree. I truly don’t care if he returns or not, but I’d probably rather he didn’t. First, I’d like to see someone tell Jerry to stick it, and Mike is probably good enough to keep this team in its perpetual mediocrity, which none of us ought to want.

We need this to blow up in Jerry’s face and eventually get into a Parcells situation. That’s the best we can hope for. Getting anywhere near a SB the way things currently are isn’t happening.
A Parcells situation won’t be coming for about 15 more years. I don’t think the stadium will be outdated or in need of replacement like Texas Stadium was, but the initial seat licenses will be expiring then. Me thinks he’ll have a hard time selling the renewals then absent changes.

Makes a ton of sense and could very well be the case.

If I’m Mike I just wait it out until the 14th, and if I don’t get a job I’ll take a year off and be in the mix next year.

Wouldn’t shock me at all if Mike has more teams willing to hire him than Jerry does of the number of people who are better being willing to work for him, for cheap. The level of attractiveness of the Dallas HC job is part of Jerrys delusional outlook.
He could probably do what so many other ex-coaches & players do, go to tv. He could probably meet or best tightwad Jerry’s offer.

It should be very simple. If you want him back. You negotiate and sign him quickly. For gods sake, you are a multibillion dollar company, not your local burger king. Get the deal done and move on.

Or if you don't want him back, you let him know ASAP and start aggresively looking at candidates.

everything this front office does is either slow or wrong...sometimes both. I mean you had the whole year to make a decision. Plan should be in action now.

If Mike interviews with da Bears, what are the odds Jones decides to move on to another HC?
I think that will be Mike McCarthy's punishment. If he interviews with Chicago, Jerry will be furious that he "doesn't want to be here" and Jerry will get rid of him.

Jerry Jones is an attention Hog, If he can wait till the week of the SB to announce the decision he will. He wants the attention. Win, lose, team sucks who cares - we are talked about and it's generating income for him.

Yeah, an incentive based deal when you refuse to provide enough quality players. Ok.

I’m sure many NFL head coaches have playoff or SB bonuses included, but most of the salary can’t be based on that.

The arrogance is ridiculous and I have no idea what kind of coach he thinks he is going to attract with that. Even if you believe it, it looks ridiculous by saying it.

It falls into line with what you’ve been saying you’ve heard about the kid and his attitude…as if people ought to be thankful to have the opportunity to work for them.

Jerry is going to be 97 years old in 15 years.

If he is still alive and still trying to run the team on a 45 year drought, I won’t be watching….one way or another.

One day after the Bears sought permission from the Cowboys to interview Mike McCarthy for their vacant head coaching job, Dallas still has not responded to Chicago’s request, per source.

Pretty good. Jerry wants to keep him in Dallas and offer about 4 million a year. He doesn't need or want anyone driving up his offer. I dont believe he let's him interview if he plans to keep him.
