Sadly, I don't know. I mean, as someone who's never been able to watch us in the SB and knowing we probably won't for a while, I'm wondering what's the point and if I should change teams at some point. At the same time, I'm so deeply entrenched with my suit and everything else involving the Cowboys that I can't do that.
Trust me, I'm in the same boat. I'm old enough to have enjoyed the most recent Super Bowl run, but other than that, it's been a reliably miserable run as a fan.

But I was born into a diehard Cowboys fan family, so it's in my DNA and I could never root for another team.

Then why'd you pay Dak the 2nd biggest contract in the NFL history at the time, Jerry?
Just like when Tyron Smith was the highest paid Left Tackle when he got paid? Or when Zack Martin was the highest paid Right Guard when he got paid? Or when La'el Collins was the highest paid Right Tackle when he got paid?

Two can play this dumb game.

And Zeke goes as the OL goes. So Zeke isn't going anywhere.

And Tyron's lost doesn't just effect Zeke. I will effect Dak and any idea of a long passing game. Schultz is going to have 200 catches this year with a 5 yard/catch average.

LOL what an idiotic thing to say.

Not only is this a subtle slap to Dak, but this is a passing league, you go as your QB goes and your trenches protecting your QB and your pass rushers getting to the QB. Ol' Jerruh stuck in the 90s.

And I just want to point out, with all this talk about the confidence coaches and ownership has in Dak - we tend to have similar quotes like this every few weeks it seems. I love that we are paying 20% of our cap to a QB that is overshadowed by an overpaid 27 year old RB going on 35.

I grew up in a family of Eagles fans, and I've stuck with the Cowboys through that. I've gotten mocked and ridiculed for this team. I had stars put on my fursuit because this is the team for whom I am a massive fan. And for what? A team whose owner doesn't clearly understand that you have to plan for disasters? Dak will be lucky to get out of this season safely. I like Dak, as I've made clear. I want him to succeed. I wouldn't blame him though, after this contract ends, if he wants to try a different team. Worked for Stafford. Maybe if his owner was competent and knows how to shore up talent, he'd be able to do what he'd be able to do if not for the idiots running the show. Jerry got incredibly lucky with Romo and Dak. Romo being undrafted, and Dak being a QB that literally fell into his lap in the 4th round. If Jerry had his way in 2016, our QB would be Paxton Lynch. Think the stretch from 2000-2002 (how I started) was bad? That would've been so much worse. Yet, he's about to throw away his luck, and you need some luck to get a top 10 QB, which we have. It would suck for us, but it'd serve Jerry right if the next QB he gets makes Ryan Leaf look like Peyton Manning.

Nah, I still remember 1988 and 1989 (4-28). It does feel like we're about to take a step backwards, though.
I loved 1989!
We were terrible put the arrow was pointing up.
You could see things going in the right direction.
We have been floundering for 25 years now.
Not Bad, not good enough, different shades of average.

INCORRECT !!!
We go as Dak goes, Jerry.
Pollard can replace Zeke if need be.
This guy really needs to step down as GM.

Seems Jerry is mad and sending a message to #4..........Who wouldn't be mad after being taken for over 200 million $.........Heck, he got 75 million just for last season.....Mama mia that's a lot of cheese!!!:omg:

Tyron Smith and Zack Martin are still top 5 lineman at their position and future HOFers. Pretty bad comparison there.

If the team goes as Zeke goes, and Zeke is at his best running between the tackles, then why did they make no efforts to upgrade the C position? Why did they make no real effort to upgrade the RT and why not at least have a decent backup at T considering Tyron tends to miss games. If Jerry honestly believes that Zeke is the determining factor in success then you need to build an offensive line around that which is the opposite of how they built the offense the past couple years.
Because Jerry doesn't know how to build a team. Jimmy Johnson did and ever since he left Jerry has built a team to sell merchandise but not win titles.

Jerry has been trying to justify that Elliott contract since he got bent over a barrel by Elliott and his agent.

But it also explains why this franchise has 3 playoff wins in 25 years when the GM comes out and says that the TB has to be the guy that compensates for the loss of our All Pro level LT.

No, it's not. Tyron is definitely not Top 5 at his position since he can't even stay healthy a whole season. It's been years since he stayed healthy a whole season. At least Zack Martin is legit Top 5 and healthy. Dak is definitely Top 8-10 and now healthy.

At least with Dak and Romo, we have a chance. For those that rip on Dak and Romo, without them, we probably win 2 games a season max. If that! At least with those two, we've had something that we can hold on to and understand we probably will be ok. Romo should be in the HOF for keeping the Cowboys as relevant as he did, and Dak is being treated the same way now. And Jerry isn't going to learn until Dak says help me or trade me and we go 3-14 for 3 straight years after.

Tyron Smith misses too many games for me to consider him a top 5 player at his position.

He's only had a single season where he played less than 11 games. Having Smith for even 13 games a season is far more valuable than having a crap tackle for 17. He's still better than the vast majority of tackles in the league, this can't be argued.

Of course it would be ideal to have him for 17 games a season, but tis the NFL.

Yes, and I happily do it, partly because it's fun, and partly because it reps this team. Problem is, this team is becoming harder and harder to support every year. The only things I have that I can say, "Yes, because of this, we have a chance" is our defence and Dak. If not for this, I'd probably be feeling like it was 2001 all over again.
