Jerry Jones believes Cowboys can compete with high-scoring teams like the Rams and Chiefs

This is why Garrett is dangerous for this team. He will agree with Jerry that we can compete with the Rams and Saints. Then when he fails to show it up on the field, he will have an excuse and Jerry will buy into it.

We are in an endless circle called the Denial Game. Both Garrett and Jerry play the game well lying to each other.

LOL.

Anyone who didn't see this comment coming hasn't been paying attention to the idiocy that is Jerry Jones at times.

Here's the problem with that logic, however, when he says we wouldn't play that kind of game.

We may have to. He acts like our team is the 9-1 team that is well coached and been able to dictate to the opposition what and how we want a game to be played.

For the Cowboys to win, they would have to do something they really haven't done all year......... play a highly efficient offensive game from the first snap to the last, convert their red zones opportunities into TDs, generate a fair amount of turnovers, etc. Not impossible but how likely?

IF we were doing that consistently all year, sure. But we haven't. He just seems to think, "hey, we like to run the ball and eat clock so we won't get into a shoot out!"

What do you expect him to say?

there are some people assuming that because the Boys style is run heavy that they can't spread the field and produce

here's 2 minute drill stats for Goff, Brees, and Prescott - last 3 years

Goff - 63%, 5 TDs (4.7%), 4 INT (3.7%), 9 Sacks (8.5%), 1 rushing TD

Brees - 65%, 14 TDs (6.8%), 4 INTs (2.0%), 8 sacks (3.9%), 2 rushing TDs

Prescott - 59%, 12 TDs (6.2%), 3 INTs (1.5%), 14 sacks (7.2%), 5 rushing TDs

Dak has only been in 3 shoot outs (both teams in the 30s)
he lost all 3 - but IMO was not out played

Rodgers 28/43 355 2 1
Prescott 24/38 302 3 1

Goff 21/36 255 2 0
Prescott 20/36 252 3 1

Rodgers 19/29 221 3 0
Prescott 25/36 251 3 1

we have a little better defense now too

for anyone doubting JG in a shoot out - don't count him out either

It's not crazy at all. The Ravens who are number 1 in points allowed held the Saints to 24 points. We're number 3 in points allowed.

I actually agree with Jerry.

I'm not saying we would win but Dallas is good at making every game a coin flip. Even against bad teams.

Play good defense, run the clock out, and see what happens in the 4th quarter.

The Cowboys are very beatable but they are not "blow out" able.

We are a unique challenge that 2 years ago, only Rodgers unique talent could solve.

We have 6 weeks to improve even more on D, and find an offense capable of switching field position consistently when not scoring.

If those 2 things happen: the Cowboys can make noise.

See I disagree.

I think we have a better chance against the Rams and Saints because their QB will be playing from the pocket for the most part and that has been our strength defensively this year.

It's the mobile guys that have gave us fits.

Astute. This is exactly the case.

The throw on the run talents kill us. Indeed we seem to halt progress of pocket QB's as well as any team in the league.

The problem is, I still see them putting up 30 (7 points less than average), so we would need a superb game from our offense to match that as we have only scored 30 all year.

I'm counting from the game we played this past Sunday, 3 games in 12 days.
Yeah it sucks. I believe this is the 3rd or 4th year in a row that the schedule has worked out this way.

Exactly. The Cowboys defense may keep them a game against one of those teams but they would have to play flawless defense and hope the other team either turns the ball over a few times or fails to execute their plays.

Could the Cowboys beat those teams? Of course. Any team can win on any given day given the right scenarios, but on a normal day of solid execution by both teams, the Cowboys would be chasing the scoreboard right from the start which would alter, if not outright eliminate, their run-first game plan.
This to the tenth power.

That game was a disaster defensively and both teams were playing at warp speed.
Dallas can slow down the pace, run all day on both defenses and make enough plays on defense to win if they are at/or near full strength.

The Giants beat the Patriots in 2008 who at the time were the modern version of both these teams probably better.
