He should extend him. He and Dak deserve each other. No sense in derailing a young and up and coming coach by saddling him with the loser QB we have. Resign Mike for the amount of time left on Dak's contract, and lets just ride out the next 4-5 wasted years.

There is no hope for help for Jerry and the FO and this organization.

Or is Jerry trying to play mind games to get the team and coaches fired up to win out .... hmmm ...
Jerry was never going to hire a coach who clashed with his constant need to meddle into every aspect of how the Cowboys operate on game day. Jerry loves McCarthy, because McCarthy allows him to meddle into and be in on the decisions the coaching staff makes, in which we don't see other GMs trying to be apart of.

Jerry needs an excuse not to go outside of his comfort zone and hire a coach who he thinks will challenge him or not allow him to meddle. And the Cowboys winning a couple of games with Cooper Rush gives Jerry the perfect opening to justify keeping McCarthy around.

Unreal.

Unreal.

We win one ****** game and Jerry uses this to bring back the same crew that got blown out at home 5, 6 times in a row?

I thought losing the draft pick was bad enough. Bringing back this regime (any of them) is the literal worst case scenario.

He has to cover himself I guess.

If Philly goes deep into the playoffs, Garrett 2.0 just may turn Jerry down for a better opportunity.

Also no one is taking a shorter deal than McCarthy on extension and we know what a big problem dead coaching money is in todays NFL.

This old man is all over the place.

Let the season play out, I don't believe Big Mike is back, it was a very satisfying win Sun. especially living in the area,
but I'm old enough to remember what happened in the last five weeks.

LOL. If he extends McCarthy, that might be it for me barring some miraculous run from here.

What's awesome about this is he's basically put himself in a corner now because he can't shut up.

Sounds to me like the feelers they've been putting out are coming back negative or, it's just Jerry saying Jerry things. Hope it's the latter and not the former.

The Todd Archer tweet is the response Jerry should have given in the days following the drubbing of the Commanders in week 18 last season before the wild card game against the Packers when asked about McCarthy's status. Instead...he put a bullseye on the coach that got him to 3 consecutive playoffs just as game preparation was taking place.

So instead of McCarthy talking about the football game on Sunday against the Packers, he was answering questions from local, national, and Green Bay/Milwaukee media about Jerry's comments and his contract status.

This was the correct response, Jerry. That or "we are only focused on the Packers and the playoffs. I will not be discussing anything other than football matters that occur on the field."

This is good because this is more proof that Jerry is losing his mind to old age.
