That's right, looks like Ware was a Jerry pick and not Bill P.

That might raise some eyebrows around here.

"He had to fight Bill Parcells on taking Ware. Bill didn’t want Ware. Things like that are his final decisions.”

Not much of a fight......it's like "Bill we're selecting Ware"

Haha guess Bill didn't much care for that selection process then.

While that's a great fact, and you have to give him credit for it, I wonder how many times he's missed. You need both of those facts to make any sort of decision about him and his ability to select talent.

Isn't that when tuna wanted spears at that pick instead of ware and he still got his guy a few picks later...

Very old news which also does not absolve Jerry of rampant incompetence.

Even the great 1's miss or get lucky. Sometimes it's just a great eye.

Not saying Jerry is great, but he's not like your normal fan.

He's been around great.good/average/garbage players for more than 10+ years, for at least 5+hours at a time in a day....

I say after a while like anything you do consistently in life, you begin to get a feel for it. Maybe not great, but a pretty decent feel for it.

This is pretty old news that has been discussed over and over on this forum in the past. It really doesn't do anything to change anyones mind one way or the other.

Agree. I definitely don't think he is great and someone can do better though. But, you're right, over the years I'm sure he has developed some sort of a feel for the position and can hang with the crowd.

There was too much "average" around DC though. I'm glad there has been a change.

It was more like Jerry and the entire scouting department VS Parcells. Jerry went with the scouts, and rightfully so.

Parcells fired Lacewell in 2004. Did he get invited back for sentimental reasons to the 2005 draft warroom? Few people did more to influence Jones' poor choices for the decade following Jimmy than Lacewell, and none did more to improve the roster post-Johnson than Parcells. But hey, lets bash Parcells and lionize Lacewell. :laugh2:

And they had to fight Parcells on the Ware pick, including forcing him to gush that Ware reminded him of Lawrence Taylor moments after the pick?

It's pretty easy to track the Cowboys personnel since Jimmy Johnson left. It went on a downhill slide when Johnson was fired, bottomed out after Johnson's talent got old, revived under Parcells, and has been in steady decay ever since Parcells retired.

Yeah, lets give Jones credit. For nearly 2 decades of personnel disasters.....

If I recall......Parcell's wanted Merriman over Ware, but actually thought one of those 2 would slide and was recommending Marcus Spears at 10(?). MS was drafted at 17 I believe and parcells thought one of the 2 would be there. (Ware or Merriman).

True, Jerry is not making calls on his own people like Ireland pushed for Ware they gave their reasoning behind their views and Jerry was the tie breaker when you had 2 sides not on the same page.

How often does this happen? That is anyone guess, what I do know and get tired of is players who make it are someone else pick and any player who fails well that was Jerry. This is about the silliest argument. The drafting process involves a lot of people
