I think he'd get it back because he still has a high interest factor. But I don't think he can just walk out of the booth, resume playing football for the Cowboys and not be major rusty - especially after the surgeries and his age.
I agree with that last part too. How many weeks would it take him to get ready?
But I don't think CBS would keep that spot open indefinitely. The former players turned broadcasters list gets longer by the day.
I agree. I've mentioned this scenario to friends/family of Romo coming back in the event....well you know (won't type it)....and get a cross-eyed looks back. I don't care how lucrative his CBS deal is or how rare that position opens up.......the window and chances to play in the NFL I would think trump CBS in terms of money and opportunity. He is still the back-up quarterback for drastic emergencies. He is not on the payroll at this time.
Frankly, this speaks to the business acumen of Jerry Jones. He has a starter waiting in the wings as needed.
I think CBS would absolutely LOVE it if Romo came out of the booth to play again. What an incredible public relations home run that would be for them. I think they're rooting for this, and I think it's part of the calculation for putting him in the No. 1 spot with Nantz.
There rooting for Dakota to get injured!?!?I think CBS would absolutely LOVE it if Romo came out of the booth to play again. What an incredible public relations home run that would be for them. I'm not seeing that.
How does losing your #1 announcer help? And one still trying to learn the job at that.
If Romo is successful, you do the same thing you did last year. Leave him in.If Dak went out for the rest of the season, I have no doubt Tony will get a call, as he should.
But what if Dak is out for like 8 weeks in the middle of the season, but expected back after that. Would we call Romo, would he actually do it for that short period of time.....and what if he is successful like winning those 8 games in a row, would we still bench him.
Some of you act like Tony should be put in a home, maybe for your own agenda, but the idea is out there and it is real. So get over it.
Because you're suddenly at the center of the spotlight of the top story in the NFL. CBS has tons of people to fill in for a few weeks while you watch your EMPLOYEE play for the Cowboys. Imagine getting to cover an inter-conference game with your colleague quarterbacking in the most watched game of the season?
That's the greatest ratings bonanza imaginable.
I just don't see it.
Romo is supposed to go from the booth to the field? And back again?
I see a dream scenario that will never happen.
No way!Not saying this is likely. Prescott is a young and sturdy.
However, what if the Cowboys are 3-3 and Dak is struggling? What if his play is hurting the team? That could be interesting.
No way!
If Dak tears a ACL or something, perhaps there is a scenario where Romo returns. But Romo coming back because the Cowboys are 3-3 and Dak is struggling? Assinine.
You let your young QB play through it. That's how he learns.
Tony is NOT coming back to this team. Geez!
