It's twenty years since the Jerry/Jimmy divorce.

It would have been long forgotten if Jerry's emotional IQ had been high enough to work with Jimmy...he probably acted more intelligently as an oilman. Instead, he's been on a Don Quixotic venture to prove he is the only mastermind the Cowboys need to remain champions...how can a truly proud man continue to humiliate himself like that? Doesn't concerns of his legacy disturb him?

The only remaining option is for the fans, sponsors, and companies to withdraw support. If Jerry refuses to get that, hopefully Stephen will when he starts to preside over the Cowboys.

The more likely reason the Jimmy/Jerry match didn't work is because they are EXACTLY the same personality type.

Serious question. Do you believe it's possible that Jerry could one day hire a personnel "advisor" from outside of the organization while keeping his beloved GM title?

He was desperate to get a new stadium and that begot Parcells. Could his own mortality cause him to get desperate enough to do something like this?

This is the only way it'll work with Jerry in charge, he'll never step away from the "GM" title. Anyone with half a brain knows this.

And unfortunately ours too.

Jerry has committed to winning as both the owner and GM. The problem is he has 'sat at the table' so long he can't back away now. He has to be all in in an effort to prove he was, is and will be right about managing this franchise.
If he finally were to hire a professional GM and we were to reach an NFC championship game in a couple a three years it would pile the futility of the last 17 years even more apparently on his doorstep.
Instead of being the shrewd, cagey, innovative wheeler dealer owner his ego wants him to be known as, he will essentially have proven himself to be a craven seeker of glory who has failed himself and us miserably in this foolish quest to impress.

Siiiiighhh

Is the Eagles empty Super Bowl trophy case the result of an over-bearing owner?

Many teams with real football GMs don't win. People think that the only obstacle between the Cowboys and the Super Bowl is Jerry being the GM. If ole Jerry would just hire a real GM, the Cowboys are automatically in the Super Bowl.

If Jerry stepped away from being the GM and the football field....

The fans would come back...even if we didn't win a Super Bowl...etc etc

If we did win , then we would all praise jerry for doing the right thing...

Eagles aren't part of this equation. With their current structure, they have a CHANCE of becoming a serious contender.

With our current structure, we are guaranteed years and years of futility. Jerry has proven he is incapable of building a winner. Removing him gives us a chance of becoming a contender. With him at the helm, its just more of the same ... nothing.

You lost me right there
If you are a cowboy junkie (as your username indicates) there is no escaping the fact that Jerry has no commitment to winning except if he gets credit for it

His priorities are his money and his ego
Winning is a distant and unimportant outcome

Their offense suits their personnel and their defense got a lot better esp with the addition of Kendricks and others.
