@clarencehilljr Now that the draft is over, Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will turn their attention to address the Doug Free situation. And get a decision

Clabo might be headed our way. Now that the draft is done, they are apparently switching gears quickly. :D

I mean a lot of people were complaining but the Cowboys handled this appropriately.

They tell Doug he can take a pay cut now and he can stay in June and compete with Parnell and Winston (once we've signed him).

If he doesn't beat out Parnell, he is cut. Otherwise, he beats out Parnell and can be our swing Tackle.

If he doesn't take a pay cut, we cut him June 1st, and he has to hope that someone out there wants to pay him. When he is well known around the league for probably being one of the worst starting tackles.

My guess is his agent will tell him to take the pay cut, even if it's the veteran minimum. At least that is how I would advise him.

I agree. Either way he wont start for us this year. I like Winston. I think he can bring much needed leadership to the OL to go with the youngsters at LT and C.

Bye Free, if you need a ride to the airport let me know.

Not really realistic though. Someone will sign Doug Free as a back-up OT. And likely pay him more than the vet minimum, not much more, but like maybe 800-900k. If we're gonna tell him vet min, we should just save our time and cut him.

Not sure how much money the team has, but regadless of Free, sign clabo or Moore. I may prefer a 2-year deal with Moore and let Parnell play RT

Smith, Livings/Frederick, Frederick/Costa, Moore, Parnell

either way, the rook gets in the interior

Don't know any team that is going to want to pay him more than the vet minimum. That being said I simply mean in that range. I think it would be beneficial for him to stay on the team he is, in the state he lives, and especially given the income tax situation.

The only advantage to going somewhere else would be the idea that he could start, and I think that time has come and gone for Free.

DAAAYUUUUUM. Jerry is about business.

Tampa Bay is to blame for driving up Free's price then using the money they didn't spend on him by signing Carl Nicks.

Imagine our line with Smith, Nicks, Frederick, Livings, and Winston/Clabo. Romo would have all day and Murray would finally have some holes that aren't created via smoke and mirrors.

I know the masses have turned against him but Free will be a starting tackle for someone in '13 and I'm still betting it's Dallas.

If we could come out of free agency with Moore and Winston/Clabo, I think a lot of fans will be excited about the offense.

Imagine

Smith - Livings/Leary - Frederick - Moore - Winston/Clabo

I think that is a pretty strong set up. And you don't need to sign guys like Moore or Winston/Clabo to long term deals. I'm thinking 1, 2, or 3 year contracts. This gives us time to draft replacements over the next few years, and develop them at whatever pace we need to.

We go out there with that line, and the weapons we've assembled, and we stay healthy... To me that looks like a top 3 offense in the NFL.

These are our rankings for our offense

2012: 6
2011: 11
2010: 7
2009: 2
2008: 13
2007: 3
2006: 5

But that's only based on yards

What are our rankings based on points?

2012: 15
2011: 15
2010: 7
2009: 14
2008: 18
2007: 2
2006: 4

So the issue has certainly been able scoring points. The only constant has been Tony Romo. He's really the only thing that keeps us ranked anywhere decent, but he can't score points on his own. I think getting him more redzone threats helps tremendously, but we also have to give him a running game.

I agree, I wouldn't want him here if he would play for "free". Get him out of here before he gets your QB killed.
