Jerry Jones - Pollard can carry the load

Pollard has been the talk of Cowboys training camp, taking full advantage of Ezekiel Elliott's absence. He only played the first series in Saturday's preseason opener, perhaps as a way to limit his exposure heading into the regular season. "We know he's inordinately understanding of what he does and can do," said Jones. "We know he's capable of, if he really needs to, carrying the load." The Cowboys are still counting on Elliott returning from his holdout at some point, but if his contract standoff bleeds into the regular season, don't be surprised if Pollard ascends to workhorse status.

Pollard didn’t even have the “workhorse” label in college. It’s an absolute joke to consider Pollard as anything beyond an occasional change of pace weapon a la Lance Dunbar. Pollard is not an NFL RB designed to “carry the load”. If Zeke’s holdout lasts deep into the season, the running game is in trouble.

Besides....Jerry is a great salesman and business man. Not a great NFL GM. What JJ says is about 80% non-sense when it comes to the football side of things.

I'm baffled by the people who hang on every word the Joneses say. They know darn well Pollard is no Zeke but do you expect them to say? Gushing over Zeke and how they need him only gives the holdout more traction. Relax.

He’s 6’0 210 Lbs so saying he is or isn’t designed to carry the load is premature.

Understatement.

He carried the ball 10 or more times in a total of TWO college games.

Just like Zeke is posturing that he is willing to miss the entire season, JJ is posturing that the team can be fine without Zeke

By the end of the month— there will be a new contract for Zeke and both sides will be saying how excited they are for the future, to put the contract behind them, and get back to playing football.

“Pollard’s been the talk of training camp”....like that’s any kind of indicator of future success. Remember the “great camp” had by Beau Morgan in the 90s? Brandon Weeden threw “the prettiest ball”?

It is literally laugh out loud funny that JJ and SJ are acting like Pollard is anything beyond a rookie 4th round RB who was drafted to probably have 60-80 touches over an entire season.

Gotta ensure good ticket and merch sales! IMO, with our OL, Pollard, Webber, Jackson, and Olawale should be fine against 60-70% of the schedule. But come playoff time, if we don’t have Zeke...
