I mean he is not wrong but even in the NFC I would say there are two other teams that also have what it takes and because they did not avoid FAs have an edge in terms of talent to win this years Super Bowl and that is ignoring the loaded AFC.
Aye at this point you just gotta hope to be one of the best. And I know it's an unpopular take but Dak should be an edge over Purdy and Hurts. We should have arguably the best QB in the NFC at this point. Not saying we do but we should.

Now I’m ready for the season. It doesn’t officially start until jerry declares the cowboys a Super Bowl team. A fine tradition started over 20 years at sea world, where Jerry proudly proclaimed this next to a wet suit clad Dave Campo.

Except a GM
I take everything Jerry says with a grain of salt and a shot of liquor but he's right about our roster, imo. All the starters are either capable players or superstars and we have decent depth as well and unless McClay is the real GM Jerry has done pretty well this offseason.

Hope is a funny thing. People love it. That's why we are all here. I keep thinking one of these seasons hope will finally be on our side and deliver to us fans.

You're right, it isn't a popular opinion. There's likely only one place outside of The Star in Frisco where Dak is put on such a pedestal, and that is right here at CZ. Hurts has already proven he is the one with the edge. Purdy? That's still an unknown but he does have an undefeated record against Dak already.

And that's fine. A lot of popular opinions SUCK lol.

Dak SHOULD be better than Hurts. He has 5 or 6 years of playing at a high level. Hurts has one. That's not to say Hurts isn't better. He could be. I don't know. I'm just saying based on someone who has watched football for most of my life I've seen my shore of 1 hit wonders. I've seen my share of guys have one great year and never duplicate it again *COUGH* Carson Went *COUGH* *COUGH*.

But this is how silly your logic is. Dak has a winning record against Hurts but that doesn't matter because he's been to a SB. But Purdy hasn't been to a SB but he's 1-0 against Dak. It's just very silly logic and its a big part why no one can have a honest conversation on Dak on this site.

Yeah we've had some good teams in the past....and it sucks it happened this late because there was a point we had Fredericks, Tyron, Martin, etc. all in the prime of their careers. That would've been unstoppable. But yeah this is probably the best overall team we've had since those 90's teams. May not have 13 Pro Bowlers like 2007 but overall? This is for sure the best secondary I've seen since the 90's. And haven't seen a guy like Micah in a long time.

There was none with Garrett and Marinelli here. This is a quality roster with a better coach and the hope is legit, not just the usual offseason talk. That doesn’t guarantee anything but it does realistically put them in the conversation!

Pessimism has its virtues.

If you assume that things will go wrong then you are better prepared to deal with them in the event it actually happens. If some things don't go wrong, then it is a pleasant surprise.

Pessimists are never disappointed.
Wrong, pessimist are always disappointed. That is why they are a pessimist. They look for the worst in everything. And that is not healthy for the mind. They ismply can't handle failure.

Optimist on the other hand have a healthy mind as they look at the world. Then when disappointment comes along, they handle it and move on.

Now this does not apply to everyone and everything of course, but probably to most. Just as well, there are many that are in between, they can be a little of both.
What the main thing is, how does one handle failure. So some fans whine, some fans are ready for the next season and what it could be.

Thomas Edison's quote, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work,” is a perfect reminder that failure is not the end. It is just the beginning of a journey toward success.

This is where the 2023 Dallas Cowboys are, the next journey to success.

I agree ..... But we also have a GM that him being in the limelight and letting everyone know he is in charge is more important than allowing the head coach to have complete control of the team.

He undermines the coaching staff with his nonsense

I can see the argument for Dak over Hurts. Hurts had a better year, but has far more talent around him, but the problem is that is still the case. The big problem is take QB out of it, can you name a position group on offense where the Cowboys are better than the 49ers or Eagles, because I can’t? The one advantage is I think both the Cowboys and 49ers are better defensively than the Eagles (and my hot take both were far better last year as well).

Good post. And you may be right. But if you have the edge at QB that can be the deciding factor. That's what happened to Mahomes and Hurts in the SB. Some would argue that Hurts outplayed Mahomes but I mean he gave up a fumble for 6. That's the difference in the game.

As far as position groups....it's widely regarded that the Cowboys have one of the best secondaries in the league now with Gilmore. If Gilmore is as good as he was last year or a little worse I'd say our secondary is better than Eagles and 49ers.

I don't know man things are just different now that the Cowboys added Cooks and Gilmore.

For instance Devonta and AJ are better than Cooks and Lamb. But if its Cooks/Lamb and Gallup vs Devonta/AJ.....Quez?

For sure have the worst tight ends between both teams. I mean it's not even fair there lol. Probably can argue we got worse technically.

RB....I honestly think right now Pollard is a better running back than anyone on both teams but McCaffery is a better player and Eagles have a lot of injured backs that if they end up healthy could be a explosive bunch. That one is tough...I'd say though Cowboys have the worst group.

Offensive line....both teams have better lines than the Cowboys.
Defensive line....49ers are better. I don't know how to feel about the Eagles...I think as of now we might be better until Jalen and Davis prove it.

Rambling but to answer your question Cowboys have a better secondary than both teams. Wide receiver group is debatable but maybe give the edge there if Gallup is back to normal. Might be about it.

But it's not much of an edge. Cowboys are close enough to where they need Dak to elevate his game and make up for the difference in talent.

Same talk, different year.....show us on the field, 20 whatever years it is has been frustrating. I was a kid in my 20s back then, now I have adult children and grandkids who have never seen the Cowboys in a SB, much less than an NFC championship game.

Sorry, hate to burst your bubble, but I lost hope probably 5-6 years ago, the Cowboys are my team, but it's strictly a matter of watch and see what happens.

0-17 or 17-0, I'll be here next year.

But hope? Nah...
