Jerry Jones says we can get away with lesser talent on OL

More like if Romo is smart, he'd get out of Dallas and make several more million elsewhere due to actually having a prolonged career from not being knocked out of the game due to a shoddy o-line.

  1. People are figuratively jumping off bridges over this story.
  2. Those that try to temper it are quickly dismissed or "corrected."
  3. Some question the context, but in reality the topic doesn't even include a quote to take out of context.
  4. The team gave UFA Doug Free a huge market contract 3 years ago, spent a 1st, 4th & 7th on the O-line two years ago, and signed two 2nd tier FA's last year.
  5. To this point there are NOT commensurate results, but its not like resources haven't been spent. It looks more like resources mis-spent at this point.
  6. BTW - few have been able to predict in recent years where the team will go in the offseason from stories like these. Is this story any different?
  7. also BTW - many were certain from earlier offseason stories that Gruden was all but signed, Garrett gone and/or his playcalling stripped. None of that looks likely today. And its pretty hard to deny the coaching staff is stronger today than at season's end.

This all day

Parcells had four entire seasons. Garrett has had two. How do you seriously not recognize that distinction?

Red Ball had half of 2010 as well. And started with a lot more talent and a franchize QB. How do YOU miss the distinction

Half a season with a team that had all but given up. There's your distinction.

Yeah, also a team that knew they were playing for their JOBS.

That's the thing about starting 1-7. Pretty much every coach's dream to walk into such a motivated group. And so starkly different from the motivation of every team ever where the coach has just been fired.

Hmmm..

how much blame for "giving up" does an OC and HC-in-waiting (for 3 years) receive?

I agree with this.
The team picked it up completely after Wade got the boot. You'll almost always see this the first few games after a new coach takes over, but even moreso if it happens during the season. The urgency was there.

Plus, after the 7-45 blowout loss to Green Bay, they were 1-7 and nobody was taking them seriously.

I pretty much discount the second half of that season for either positives or negatives.

according to some of the JG defenders none at all

Of course the OC/HC bears responsibility for the performance of his unit and his team. And, of course, you give the guy you hire the opportunity he deserves without cutting bait mid-stream and running off willy-nilly in another direction. It's really not that complicated when it comes down to it.

so the fact that he has been unable to get that edge back means nothing to you?

three full years is enough. If we do not show a lot of improvement next season he deserves the boot.
