they were discussing accepting a trade back with KC and Mike pushed back because he knew we'd lose him. and said no. Mike wanted Mazi. He said all this in the post draft presser. Turns out, KC was trading up with Dallas to draft Mazi.

If Mike was against the trade back, props to him. I'm not losing possible better talent to pick up an extra 4th or 5th rounder.

My understanding is thats exactly why they made the pick. That was there dude all along. Even Micah Parsons earlier in the day said it. They all knew well before the draft began. But nobody truly let the cat out of the bag.

Kincaid was their plan B. Mazi was their guy since Thursday morning early afternoon. Micah has the text message to prove it. He and DQ were all in with Mazi. MM wanted him.

Yes, and Ferguson hasn't been there but one year, need to wait this year at least and see if he can develop into what you thought he could.

Gotta have some patience. Besides, if they had taken Kincaid somehow then some other position like DT would have had less players to choose from. There's no cut and dried way to run a draft....

they were freaked out by Dallas because all they been hearing is we wanted him. We played this nicely. We caused them to do this when we were never drafting a TE at 26. If we were, we would have simply drafted Mayer/Laporta at 26.

It's not if you watched the warroom big Mike was trying to get a te to the last second. Luckily mcclay talked them off the edge.

Jerry and Stevie had the trade chart out talking right before Big Mike protested. They were about to accept the KC trade offer and Mike said hell no. Then they had a consensus. Jerry was gonna drop back with Kc then draft Mazi at 31. but what he found out later was had they done that, Mazi was getting drafted at 26 by KC! That was revealed. MM saved us from a huge mistake.

Many had him right where he was drafted as well. I'll say it again, TE was never going to be the pick at 26. We just invested in Ferguson last draft and UDFA Hendershot. That being said, We may wanna add a TE during day 2. If the value is there.We made the right pick.

I'm not upset by the pick, but I would have given them an A++ had they traded down with KC. Even if they would have taken Mazi Benton would have still been available at their pick who I think may end up being the best DT from this class. I'm a Mazi fan, just not enough of one to not gather an extra pick via a trade down and still get the best DT or TE left on the board.

If true KC wanted Mazi....then they must not think Benton is of equal talent or they would have drafted him over the DE they took. Will be interesting to see how it turns out down the road.

exactly and KC revealed that had we accepted the trade, Mazi was the guy they were drafting at 26. We did the right thing. In fact, their was 3 teams calling Dallas at 26 wanting Mazi. KC was just 1.

Benton is said to be more raw than Mazi and needs more time to develop. Thats why.
