Im just not sure how Mazi moved up into the 1st round as he was sledded by some Mocks to be our 2nd round pick at 58. That’s quite a leap.

Hopefully we didn’t miss on a TE and could have had a DT in 2nd round . I’ll look forward to see how Mazi moved up .

So, why do you think Buffalo jumped in front of us at the last minute to select a TE? Cowboys waited until the final minute to turn that card in. It looked to me like KIncaide was their man and they were left scrambling after the trade.

Because every Media head mocked us needing a TE, which if they watched last year, would have known we have two young TEs on the roster that have enough potential not to be targeting one in the first

MAYBE but a big maybe. He was rated neck and neck with Carter who philly drafted earlier. We targeted him all along and the value at 26 was too great to pass on.

I dont think we were ever drafting a TE at 26. The logic told me this. THEN go back and watch what Mike McCarthy said at his predraft presser. Listen carefully as he did actually tell us which way we were going. Everyone was heavy panting for a TE. I found it funny and just foolish. We have a great TE room already and adding another at 26 never made sense.

Agreed. I think that there are a lot of assumptions made. Honestly, I think that the media tried to make it more of a story line than anything else. Remember when Dallas was drafting Johnny Manzel? Watch out!! Buffalo traded and just snaked the TE away from Dallas. Obviously, I don't know what Buffalo needed in the draft, but maybe it was a TE and they were really thinking Dallas was going to take the TE.

Every single Cowboys beat writer and “insider” stated yesterday during the Live Draft feeds that LaPorta is their top TE. Other than the media (who just guesses) and your own bias, where did you get Kincaid was “our guy”? Kincaid wasn’t even the consensus TE. I’ve seen all four TEs mocked to Dallas.

If you don’t like Mazi as the pick, fine. But let’s not act like it was a bad pick. Dal biggest prob last year was stopping the run.. so Dal drafted the top run defender in the draft! Hard to be upset ab that.

all the cult-like dallas area draft pundits ie 105.3 the fan, were on this TE train for 2 months and I knew it was just nuts! Never understood that. They were just clamoring for Kincaid,Musgrave at 26.Musgrave barely even played in 2022 and that made the fixation even weirder. I just used logic in my thinking and it paid off. Lastly, Mike McCarthy hinted at the predraft presser what we might do. Folks decided to ignore him I guess.

Dallas purposely leaked the TE story I feel. If they truly wanted Laporta, they would have selected him at 26.

I've seen him in the mid to low 30s throughout the draft. He was 35 on Tankathon, the next best was Benton at 58. He was the 5th DT on the board, and all 5 didn't get out of the 1st round. If they wanted him, it would have been risky even if they just traded back with KC. Benton might not have been there at 58.
