Glad at least Jerry can admit it was a mistake, unlike JG.

The Cowboys’ big boss man took to a radio interview to shed some light on what goes on in the brain of Jerry Jones after a crushing defeat. Its commonplace after a defeat to question the teams performance and decisions within the game, and Jones is contemplating exactly this. The controversial spike called with Green Bay’s defense seemingly defenseless, isn’t sitting well with Jones.

Jerry Jones second guessed the spike: We needed another play right there more so than we needed some extra time..................

Good for Jerry.
Now hire someone to take over the time management role off Garrett/Linehan's hands.

Just another hindsight naysayer. Better one would be "we needed a TD instead of FG?" or "Should have gave the ball to Zek on 3 and 2 on our first drive"....

Thank you Jerry.

So tired of the culture of excuse making and refusing to admit mistakes.

It was an awful decision and that was clear as day right when it happened. No hindsight needed.

It was only the wrong decision because it did not have the results we all wanted which was another first down and a shot for TD.

People forget that it's also possible that running a quick play can results in a penalty or negative play.

Objective analysis says the time out was the best call and running a play vs spiking the ball had virtually identical statistical outcomes.... Which by the way was almost exactly the same statistical outcome as the timeout.

This is one of those stupid things that will be discussed forever.

As much as I hate the spike and think Garrett is a moron, Jerry can't contradict his head coach in public like that and continue to have people think this is a well-functioning organization, 13-4 notwithstanding.

That would be pretty amazing.

A first time ever hire of a time management coach?
I mean, some teams have specific people assigned to analyze specific things like determining whether to challenge or go for two points.

I would think there would be some value in having someone work with the research team on mathematical analysis of clock management/game situations, and be charged with performing that analysis in game.

Ultimately it will always be the head coach's call on those sorts of things, but it seems within reason to have someone specifically charged with analysis that isn't the head coach given he is thinking through so many things throughout the game.
