I don't think Jerry has the pull Jerry thinks he does. Yes, he's probably the loudest in the room and I'm not saying his voice isn't heard. But I'd bet there are just as many owners who find him grating as those who follow him.

And this is probably the case much like Jerry’s antics on other highly visible issues. Just playing to the Lynch Mob.

I’d be suspect supporting any move Jerry wants and doubt many owners are aligning with him.

Here’s an idea. Stop drafting and pursuing problem players and they won’t be suspended.

I keep hoping Jerry will cross the line with one of these issues and draw a suspension. Better yet get voted out of the league like Donald Sterling.

you hate jerry. we get it. please stop repeating yourself.

This would be far more credible if Jerry had said a peep during Deflategate.

It's kind of silly to start crying only when the Gestapo knocks on your door and not your neighbors, now he just looks like he's doing it because it's personal rather than because he feels Goodell is really bad for the league.

This is what is upsetting me about Jerry..

These owners don't stick up for one another when Goodell is going at them like this until it's their turn.

I think Jerry can build a great case to the other owners as to why they should get rid of Goodell without using the Zeke mess.

What you may not know, however, is that according to our sources the debate is no longer about how much money Goodell makes, it’s about Jerry Jones wanting Goodell out altogether, and rather than it being a financial matter, it’s become a very personal vendetta with Jones irate about how Goodell has handled the Ezekiel Elliott domestic abuse allegations and the resulting suspension now making its way through the courts and dominating most of the coverage surrounding Jones’ Cowboys.

Certainly, Goodell is mired in a debilitating losing streak beginning with the Ray Rice and Greg Hardy cases – with Hardy ironically ending up one of Jerry’s boys as well – and extending through Deflategate, NFL relocation to Los Angeles now going very badly for the Chargers – which ironically was driven by Jones, not Goodell — the Elliott case and now the Colin Kaepernick/national anthem crisis.

While we hear that not all of the 16 other owners on the conference call are yet ready to side with Jones in replacing Goodell, all are apparently unhappy with the handling of at least one or more of those issues.

I think he does, and this is based on what I was told by a FO guy. Granted, he works for Jerry, but he literally told me about the first Zeke victoy 20 minutes before it hit the news as I was drinking a beer with him, so I think he's reliable.

*On a side note. I had to ask him about the 2010 Dallas/Washingtons fines for the cap spaces. He said it was pure Mara, and had he known that was going to happen, he would have told Jerry to unload ALL THE CAP space, and just take the hit. lol. :muttley:

Polian is at least a football guy.

He grew up in the Bronx, and graduated from NYU in in '64 with a degree in history, and played safety for their team.
He coached at Manhattan College and the Trinity School in New York (both now defunct).
He was a scout for the KC Chiefs and Chicago Blitz.
He put together Grey Cup winning teams with Montreal and Winnipeg.

He turned around the Bills teams in the late 80'/early 90's with signing of future stars, such as Bruce Smith; they went to 4 consecutive SB's, but he was fired after the '92 season, when they lost their third straight.

During his tenure with the Colts, the had 7 straight seasons of at least 12 wins, and made the playoffs 8 consecutive years. He led one of the most productive decades in NFL history through 2009, but was fired after the 2-14 2011 season.

I don't have any info on his current cognitive function.

And you can hire lawyers as advisors.

I don't think he's powerless, I just don't see his wolfpack as being 24-strong.

i honestly think Bill Polian would be fine. i believe he wouldnt meddle as much or make it about himself. Goodell is a very "look at me" Commissioner.

Any way we can get rid of Goodell and Jerry at the same time?

If he just wants a commissioner to be a puppet for the owners then that's not going to work. It will be worse for the owners if they just get a yes man to all of their needs and not think about the players.

Huge difference...Brady was guilty and Elliot isn't

I don't know if I totally agree with that. He didn't pull any of the old money out of the revenue sharing. All he did was keep the NEW money he generated through marketing. He was doing things and selling naming rights...etc...that none of the other teams were doing. I kind of think it was all his.

All that said, I don't know if you're wrong about his popularity. I bet there's a large number that just tolerate him. The question becomes, who's worse? Goodell or Jerry. My money is on Goodell. His number one job is to sell the league and he's doing a terrible job of it.
furthermore other owners only justify sharing money they are invested in a participatory role, not the money jerry deserves for his specific work and cowboy specific. Otherwise, its pure socialism. I'm for sharing tv contract, and certain nfl group stuff, but not money generated purely from cowboys work and success.

Interesting. It seems Jerry's goal is an attempt to first block the extension and then work at getting rid of the dreaded Goodell at the end of his current contract. We shall see Goodell's power based exposed in the coming weeks.
