People just take everything Jerry says to the extreme. It's pretty obvious he's not trying to pimp Weeden up as the most gifted and greatest QB to ever live.

All he's saying is Weeden is gifted with a all the physical tools to play the QB position. But Weeden is going to have to get his head right, keep it there, prepare, and work his butt off to actually be a good QB.

Geez.

I hate the way PFT writes. He is the running Exec of the year and he's surrounded himself by top end talent evaluators, yet they write about him like it's still 2007. Cheap laughs type of deal

I thought it was atrocious as well. Say what you will about Brandon Weeden (I personally think he has the tools to be a starter, just needs/needed confidence, experience, and the right environment [that is, anyone but the Browns]), but I really prefer not to read this kind of snark from supposedly reputable sources.

if you read the whole quote he said he throws nice passes but it takes more than that to be a qb you have to read the whole quote

Thank you.

But people are going to read into it what they want regardless. Even if there is some unspoken definition of passer == entire quarterback position and thrower == thrower of a football or whatever (personally, I always thought "quarterback" implied "quarterback" and that passer, thrower, etc all meant simply throwing a ball), I think JJ does take the time to explain himself.

And Fred Wilpon said Art Howe "lit up the room" on his first interview to manage the Mets. Just so happened Art Howe couldnt manage. I wonder if Jerry believes half the stuff he says.....

Jerry is a Godsend for internet writers. Jerry is always good for a quote that PFT and that ilk can distort and sit back and watch the responses (clicks) fly in. Seriously just view the sheer amount of comments on EVERY article that PTF publishes about the Cowboys. The people running PFT aren't dumb. Long ago they realized that Dallas drives numbers and page views so, right or wrong, they feed that beast whenever they get the opportunity. 'Hence Jones statement that Weeden is as physically gifted a passer as you'll find, turns into 'LOOK that IDIOT JERRY JONES Weeden and his 78.1 passer rating is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

The one thing that keeps me going is Weeden did win a few games while at Cleveland. I figure if he can win games there then there has to be some hope for him here.

The good news is that Atlanta's and New Orleans defenses do not have lockdown corners and a stout run defense like Arizona. Weeden always seems to start out looking like he is running the offense like Tony and then after two series it's like he doesn't know what to do when his first read is covered and it's checkdown city for the rest of the game. It would not be surprised it he predetermines who he is throwing the ball to before the snap.

I'm a little concerned with Brice and Street on the outside. They don't appear to get much separation on their routes. If Weeden tries to force it, it might not end well.

But it's time to support him until he can be supported no longer.

This is really all that needs to be said. No one else is going to come in and do a better job, regardless of the job Weeden does. What is the FO supposed to say anyway? "Well I guess the year is done". Even if it were true, what would saying that accomplish?

I have faith in Weeden as the backup/temporary fill-in. The guy has a good arm and is accurate. Does he have flaws? Of course, that's why he's a backup, but he also doesn't have that much experience outside of the cesspool that is Cleveland. Is he going to win every game and make us forget Romo? NO! But Romo has had plenty of crappy games and losses too. He has gotten better with age and experience.

The Cowboys put a lot into this season; they expected big things, so unless they truly saw great improvement and potential in Weeden, they would have gone in another direction before the season started. He played one game as starter, against one of the best defenses in the league. Many of us said at the time that Romo wouldn't have fared much better under the pressure the Cardinals were bringing and the fact that Peterson took Dez out of the game.

Now he'll start 6-7 games, and I believe he'll win at least 3-4 which is typical of any backup QB. We still have an OL that's supposed to be great and a defense that has looked impressive in two games and has improvement on the way. He just has to take care of the ball, take his sacks or throw it away under duress, deliver when guys are open as he did Sunday.

OK, Brandon wins SB 50, Romo is traded next year and a new Cowboys dynasty is in the making.

Seriously, why does Jerry spout such obvious rubbish? I'd be content with limping into the playoffs with a chance to run the table.

It is what it is now.

The hard part for me over the next 8 weeks will be the games when you say, what if Romo had been there, what if Dez was healthy??

Its going to be ugly but this team needs to pull together and fight. I'm not ready to call it quits as the season just started!

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks Cowboys General Manager Jerry Jones made a brilliant move when he signed Brandon Weeden as the backup quarterback.

Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that Weeden has all the tools to fill in capably for the injured Tony Romo.

“This quarterback Weeden can drive the ball down field,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s a thing of beauty on throwing a football. His passing motion and his arm, frankly, you won’t see a more gifted passer, power, accuracy, the entire aspect of it. If he can basically prepare, be the starting quarterback, come in and execute and keep his head right, then I feel good about Weeden.”

Unless Jerry Jones is talking about a different Brandon Weeden than the one who washed out after two seasons and a 71.8 passer rating in Cleveland, those comments are just a wee bit ridiculous. But Jones insists that Weeden will prove he is a different quarterback than he was then.

Bless his heart. That Jerra he say things that make me smile. But i half never doubted hes committment to getting us a championship team.

in a way he does remind me of Jeff George. The ball jumps out of their hands with sleek throwing motion. His problem is similar to George...its whats going on between the ears on field. I will be pulling for guy but I reserve right to turn it off if it starts getting too bizarre.
