Cassell has had much more success in this league than Weeden has. I'd try to get Cassell in there as soon as possible.

I think for the most part Dallas got out of Weeden what they were hoping to get. I don't think Cowboys expected to have the defense to be out physical by Alt.

Think you are right
Weeden didn't play bad, he played the best he could and that wasn't good enough
No reason for the owner or the staff to go out and bash him in public
Just get Cassel ready and move on
Weeden is still going to be the backup if Cassel starts so why bash him when you may need him again this year
I just hope Cassel can be ready this week

Brandon WeDone just proved he still can't win two halves of a winnable game. 'Nough said. In the immortal words of Garrett, "next man up!"

I expect Dallas will get Cassel ready I also expect Dallas will stay with Weeden. My hope is they will be a bit more aggressive in their calls with Weeden. If you get right down to it my issue with yesterdays game was a lot more about poor defense than Weeden. If at some point they feel Cassel gives the team the best chance then great but unlike some I'm not going to put this game on Weeden.

Weeden definitely has that deer in the headlights look to him. Its not all his fault, but when you have started and lost 9 straight games, its probably time for the Cowboys to look at a different option. I'd like to see Cassel in there soon.

What weeden did was go to the game plan. You see Romo audible out and change plays. Weeden didn't at all. I think he did once that was it. The coaches didn't want him to do too much. They know were handcuffed. What team is gonna look at t will and say ok he's a top 10 wr let's double him. We're in a bad spot that we can't do crazy amount of things. Look at when tony was in the game against philly. Didn't do too much.

TOP is not one side of the ball it is both. Defense has to get off the field. Alt was able to run the ball just as Cowboys did last year and what happened with defense could not stop out run? I agree Linehan needs to call some plays to attack down the field. But as I have mentioned Weeden followed the game plan that is what should be expected not him improvising. He did what was asked and that I can not and will not blame Weeden for.

understood. if maybe street, butler or twill etc. could get some seperation out there and twill doesnt drop passes weeden might have felt more comfortable to throw deep. true weeden played within the gameplan. bunch of dinks n dunks. coaches didnt adjust.

The only "kill, kill" I remember seeing was a play when Fred looked around and said something to Weeden.

Some of you NFL coaches need to quit telling jokes. Weeden called the plays
he was given by Linehan period. That's what the coaches want from Weeden
and that's all. He does not have authority to call adlib plays or audible except
with the Kill...Kill alternate at the snap. What Weeden needed today was
for the OL to open holes for the RB's in the second half and they couldn't do
it with 9 in the box. The DL just gave out in the second half and couldn't make
a stop while Julio was making mincemeat out of our DB's. You guys can
criticize Weeden all you want but, he didn't lose the game yesterday. There
were lots of culprits contributing to the loss yesterday.

We don't have a ballsy quarterback right now. Cassell might be better than Weeden but he's no great QB either. The rest of the team had to step up and they didn't either.

Kellen Moore was pretty ballsy when he played in college.

I think a lot of it was not with Weeden as much as the coaching staff trying to play it safe using the short routs. I expect the backup to do as the coaches are asking of him. With Romo expect him to make changes with have all option available based on what he is seeing. So if defense starts moving up Romo can and will attack down the field. I just do not believe for a second that Weeden was afraid to take it deep I think he did exactly what the coaches wanted him to do. As for the outside WR I don't think it was a matter of not getting separation I think again it was the coaches playing it overly safe. As others have mention I think NO will go into the game looking to do the same and it is up to the Cowboys coaches to attack NO down the field. I think Weeden is very capable of it, he did it with Justin Blackmon and Dallas has to allow him the chance to do so here. Weeden does not lack the arm

BINGO...its amazing they are blaming this on Weeden. If Weeden played DB then yeah, he's the reason we lost..lol

Weeden never looked at his wideouts the entire game, except for the two HUGE drops by TWill. When Atlanta went man to man on the outside and stacked the middle and short zones, the QB must make at least an attempt at the long ball to back the defense off. Not once did Cowboys test those corners.

Offense and coaching put the D in a lot of bad situations. Giving the ball back to Atlanta at end of half when Cowboys could have run down to the clock to almost nothing AND that INT by Weeden put points on the board that was not on the D.

And all those 3 and outs in the 2nd half were the real culprits to the loss. Again, coaches did not adjust well on offense or defense in 2nd half, but especially on offense.

He wasn't supposed to. He was told to use the checkdown game yesterday and rely on Dunbar, Beas & Witten.
That was the gameplan and he executed it. Atlanta adjusted at the half and the Cowboy's coaches took a nap.
The Cowboys will have to win games from the lead this year because the coaches don't have enough faith in Weeden
to bring them back from behind. Weeden is not Romo and never will be. I do think Weeden can make throws down
the field but, the coaches have to let him do it!

I hope someone has a chance to look at the all-22 after this game to see what was going on in the second half and if anything was open downfield. Yes, the defense lost this game by not being able to stop the run, but basically the minute Weeden needed to do more then throw extended handoffs he basically crumbled and just continued to throw them anyway. It makes you wonder if the early deep throw was just set up for the rest of the game to try to keep them honest. There was just no sense of urgency or awareness about him. I think the guy really wants to be a backup and not get hit. Some of his comments during the week were not what you would hope to hear coming out of a QB before they get to go play. I can see him getting the start against the Saints to see how he responds but hopefully there is a short leash if he is not able to execute or even attempt to execute plays to get the defense away from stacking the box.
