I think Standridge Stadium is being used because of how close it is to Valley Ranch where the locker rooms are located as well as where the equipment is. I doubt the Cowboys want to turn each days practice into a big moving day and this current field is only temporary. High School kids can play on it so can Pros.

Whats going on at Texas Stadium? Did they rip up the field? Practice there?

They ripped it up and sold it in pieces for collectors items.

The facility at Valley Ranch is closed due to glass and debris into the field. Should they play there anyway and risk worse injuries?

What a bunch of pansies.... Heck here in west texas we play in cactus and mesquite trees lines with caliche.... And if those are all booked up we play 2 hand touch in the street... Yeh we get rough and tap em twice sometimes or maybe throw an elbow everyonce in awhile... You never hear anyone complaining......:lmao:

There is one thing I have heard and seen on a consistent basis for the last three weeks.

No one on the Cowboys likes practicing on that crappy synthetic grass field at Standridge Stadium!

Time and time again I have seen guys in the OTA videos having their feet fly right out from underneath them when they are trying to change direction on the field. And we are hearing from some that the field is rough on the players legs and joints, read here.

Tuesday's practice was dominated by the defense, but Williams and Crayton both said it hasn't been that way throughout the four-week OTA season, and Crayton said he believes the offense can get things turned around by next week's mini-camp with a little rest and recovery. That means staying off the Standridge Stadium artificial turf for five days.

"This turf right here - nice high school stadium - I hate this stuff," Crayton said. "It's pitiful on your legs and your joints and everything. I wish we could've found a grass stadium, but you've got to work with what you've got, and I think people are starting to use this as an excuse.

"I think some of the younger guys are starting to go down. It's a mental thing right now."
And now next week the Cowboys will head into a minicamp with pads on so we are going to see some guys hitting this dreadful field after contact whether they like it or not.

The problem was twofold if you ask me. One, the players start complaining and everyone jumps on them saying they are the same bunch of 'soft players' we have seen over the last few seasons. Two, the players don't complain and the field really is a disaster so we wind up with more than a handful of guys sitting on the sidelines.

And that is exactly what we seem to have right now.

Jerry Jones put them into a lose-lose situation here by choosing this spot for the OTA's and the upcoming minicamp. He has recently done the right thing after making a silly error in judgement. The Pacman thing.

So there is still plenty of time for Jerry to correct another one of his blunders and find another field for the Minicamp scheduled for next week.

Do the right thing Jerry!

The Cowboys should also tell the NFL they will not play on anything but natural grass. Also pull up the floor in the new stadium and replace it. Jerry better fix these blunders!!

No.

But they should have found a stadium with grass which is what the fields at VR have so we don't have Crayton saying the field sucks and that guys are sitting out so they don't have to pracice on it.

Maybe Jerry should hire Goldie Locks from 3 bear frame to find a field that is just right. :laugh2:

Where does it say that players are sitting out so they don't have to practice on it?

ROFL!!!

Field Turf is not bad to play on and certainly not bad for OTA's.

Good lord. This isn't like playing on Philly's torn up 1980 astroturf.

Ridiculous thread imho.

Having played on most of the fields in the area trust me that Standridge is amongst the best and much better than many options.

So Crayton is a liar?

Or whiner?

And he's talking junk about some teammates maybe taking time off with the excuse that the field is tearing up their legs?

It doesn't.

Crayton said that. Read the original post.

We had guys sitting out due to strains and pulls when we were on the grass field last year. These are minor injuries and the staff is not going to take a chance on having something minor turn into something more serious. The guys don't like the field I understand that. It is only temporary and they will have to live with it. I'm sure Jerry did not go out and think I will find a bad field that players will get hurt on, there has to be a legit reason why this location was selected and they will make due until their own facility is ready

What does that matter? He works for Jerry not the other way around I doubt Crayton is paying Jerry a dime yet I know Jerry is paying Crayton some good money so shut the **** up and do your job. Again this is temporary not permanent and if high school kids and play on it then damn so can the pros or are these guys to delicate?
