And why would the Cowboys want to guarantee money to a 30+ year old receiver whose production has declined each year?
It seems almost certain that Dez is gone on Friday. That’s a shame because his contract, as written now, makes him easy to trade.
Surely some team out there would give up at least a late round pick and take a flyer on him? Chicago comes to mind. And we need to be sure that he doesn’t land in the division.
Obviously they would only guarantee money if they think his production will pick back up. If they think he is done, they will just release him.
And as for as a trade goes, nobody is going to trade for his contract. Ask yourself this question, "if Dallas doesn't think he is worth $12.5 a year, why would anybody else?"
And if he is done, why do you care if he ends up in the division?
