Jerry on Zeke (after the draft): “No, no, not at all. That ship hasn’t sailed yet. We haven’t made a decision."

You have got to be kidding me.
Nope.....that is the smell of panic in the air. You can't tell me the plan wasn't Kendre Miller in the 3rd....and we got scooped again.
Knowing what we know now....probably would have been better off pulling a Mike Ditka...and go all in on Bijan Robinson RB Texas

I could see him getting a try out, and I think he's probably better than Ronald Jones. But, with Luepke, I'm not sure Zeke makes the team

Can anyone tell me how the money would work? Since we released him we have a dead cap hit correct? If Dallas brings him back do they still lose that cap space?

I don't care if they bring Zeke back. I want this circus as big as I can get it.

He averaged just 3.8 last year and scored so many td's because he was fed them.
Zeke averaged 4.3 before Steele got hurt, and 2.1 after. Even Pollard dropped to 2.9 after Steele's injury.

No one ran well behind the patchwork line of old man Peters and Tyron out of position. I hope the moves they made addressed OL depth because it wasn't good last season.

Yes. His average went down at the end of the year, maybe because he was hurt, maybe because he just hit the wall. I don't know, but I'm not going to cry if they choose to re-sign him or they don't. It's no big deal to me as long as they keep the best backs in the group, whoever that may be.

For all I know Vaughn might make Elliott expendable if we bring him back, or maybe we don't like our options for a short-yardage back and keep Elliott for that role. I just want whatever makes the position the best it can be.

If Miller was the plan, you have to go get him, cannot stay put and expect him to fall to 90.

Do you realize at the moment that MM is basically saying that Zeke can replace with Jones?

Suppose Zeke was brought in on a near identical contract to Ronald Jones and they had to compete. Would it upset you if they had an open and fair competition? I don't think Zeke is as good as Pollard, and I think Deuce Vaughn is going to be fantastic. However, I can see the need for a short yardage/pass protection back, which might be where Zeke and Jones would compete. I see the RBs shaping up with Pollard, Vaughn, the winner of Zeke and Jones, and probably Luepke at FB.

First off, an open air competition is a complete joke. LOL

We all know that.

Perhaps, but I don't trust Ronald Jones yet. I could see competition being brought in for him. I think Pollard and Vaughn will be excellent. However, Jones is unknown for us. He was good with Tampa but quiet in KC.

If you had to ask me, I will take Jones over Zeke. But hes still not good enough. There were sooo many good young backs that can get tough yards AND make plays. Love Deuce and love Pollard. But they still need a tough runner to team with them. This seems like an incomplete RB stable. A poorly thought out RB stable.

What they say they want to do and what they have gotten just doesnt match.

I agree with your second point, but, I think Luepke is going to be a good prospect. Given that Mike used John Kuhn a lot, I can see him using Luepke as a lead blocker. This will help. However, I wouldn't be upset if they brought in Zeke AS LONG AS he's competing for Jones' job and, should be win it, it's because he actually won the job. He's NOT the starter if he's brought in. To me, he'd JUST be used for short yardage spots and for pass blocking. Though, I suppose Luepke solves both problems.

Luepke might. If he can be a short-yardage runner and also take some fullback snaps that would be a good thing.

Oh buddy...........sad to hear you say that. If zeke comes back they will feature him.

Schoonmaker will also line up in the backfield and block like a FB. Its one of the reasons they loved him. Not sure I see a FB sticking because of that. But MM did love his big FB's.

I see it a bit different, I see Schoonmacher playing a role similar to Witten in the run game. Essentially, I think we will see a lot of I-formations and maybe an occasional T-formation that McCarthy used in Green Bay. In that sense, I think Schoonmacher AND Luepke would likely be on the field at the same time.
