This is where I am at with MM:

1. He has not gotten over us the playoff hump in 5 years— and that is the sole reason he was brought here— so his tenure can only be viewed as a failure at the macro level (to this point)

2. He should have been fired after the GB debacle. That was the lowest point in 30 years as a franchise. A transition then would have resulted in some measure of culture change and chemistry in the locker room— though it wouldn’t change the real dysfunctional issues at the highest level

3. He was set up to fail this year. He has been screwed over by an incompetent FO. I just don’t see how someone’s head doesn’t roll for this turd of a season, and we all know the GM is safe— so that leaves MM to take the hit. Which was JJ’s safety measure on this crap show anyway. He has his scapegoat if he wants to play that card.

4. The way we lost last night points to a systemic issue within MM’s culture: penalties, mistakes, and lack or preparation. This team beats itself. It has been that way for 5 years, and despite some regular season success, we need an overhaul and a HC who can motivate the guys and keep them focused on their professional responsibilities.

Is he a “bad” coach? No. Is he the “right” coach for Dallas now? No. We need to shake things up and have a culture reset. You just don’t get that by running it back (again)

I heard Ed Werder say this morning that McCarthy has ties to people in saints organization. I could see Big Mac just leaving with his contract expiring and heading to New O. He has his home in Dallas up for sale since October. Maybe Mac has already decided he doesn’t want to be here.
I wouldn't doubt this isn't the case. Who wants to deal with type of atmosphere for another 5 yrs when Jerry looks like he's only getting worse. I don't see McCarthy wanting to return unless Jerry unloads the Brinks truck but NO would give him a more traditional coaching environment for him to succeed along w/a top ten draft pick and more flexibility at making changes at QB.

MM needs to go. The Steelers have similar talent than we do and they are 11-2. If I was Jerry I would be upset. There is no reason why we shouldn’t be in the playoff hunt if Dak was healthy.

Sounds like aikman is old achool and prefers the retread vet HC approach..

And he doesn't know or trust any other vet HC on the outside besides belichek.

Could that be Jerry's approach and mentality as well ?

They were on the road to 5-8 with Dak healthy and looked no where near the playoff hunt so can't say it's all MM but definitely a big part. This year's outcome was already expected outside of JJ/SJ mind.

Jerry only looks at coaches in regards to their past success (no matter how long ago) in conjunction with the ability to sign them cheaply (cause they need a job) and make them his puppet. MM fit all of these requirements so.... next up would be a possible retread or someone internally he can control (and dump when needed) while adding draft picks, a band aid FA or two along w/healthy players returning and calling it a successful offseason.

That is my point with Dak at quarterback we stunk. We practically have the same roster as the Steelers we probably still would be 5-8 or 6-7 if Dak played in every game. That to me is a coaching problem.

In his last 7 years as a HC (last 2 at GB & 5 in Dallas) McFraud has won ONE playoff game.

Just more proof why Aikman wouldn’t make a good GM for those who keep mentioning him for that position. Even his player evaluations have been suspect. Time for McCarthy to go. Bringing him back would deflate the fan base even more. He should have been fired after the loss to Green Bay in the playoffs.

Mike isn't the problem. Never has been. It is the GM and his constant overvaluing of the talent on the team. Case in point, RB this year.

Mike goes, and nothing changes. The next coach won't pick his staff or his players. It will simply restart the latest version of a team built to fail.

Agree but part of that is Dak as well and not coaching so don't see much of a change. I still think we lose the same games or possibly lose more since his injury. Just never know, but MM def has to go.

It could be just playing in Dallas but our team has not been tough since Jimmy was here. I think the culture that the Joneses appear to promote makes the players soft. A tougher team beats San Francisco in 2021 and 2022. The coaches have to take some of the blame on this.

LOL..... sounds like Jerry's pushing Mike for another own/team. Remember he helped Quinn get the Commanders job

Jones dont care about how good his team is...when you turn a 140 million dollar investmant to almost 10 billion...and buy a quarter billion dollar super yacht....anything bad that happens....Jerry just guzzles another 3-4 shots of Johnny Walker blue label and begins to grin again
