Supposedly he has multiple TV offers.

Personally, I think Houston is being incredibly stupid right now. Their defense and WRs are ready to go. Denver is overly optimistic about Simien as well.

Houston/Denver really isn't willing to give up a 5th round pick for a top QB? Can't risk losing the next Connor McGovern or K.J. Dillon? Meanwhile, Tracy Simein and Tom Savage have no real shot against Brady in the playoffs.

You don't say? Training camp? Huh.

No kidding. If you want insurance that you've got a QB before the draft, you better get Romo before then. If not, you don't know for sure whether or not DEN might have a deal in place for a low round pick that would block you from getting him at all. Even a conditional 7th for next year to jam up the Texans would be worth it just to make them look silly.

Welcome to Jerry speak, This is NOT going to go on until Training camp....I don't think they're going to allow Romo to do anything at the complex risking an injury and being stuck with him....

Also says Romo has a "lot of options".

So Fox or CBS is "a lot"?

I'm pretty sure there are more opportunities in life than just playing QB or being a broadcaster. If he really wanted a TV job, I bet FS1, ESPN, NFL Network, and a myriad of other smaller/local outlets would find a spot for him. Heck, I imagine he could get into coaching pretty quick if he wanted to stay in the game. Barring back troubles, he could probably play about 200 rounds between now and the end of the year (if he's willing to risk divorce).

The world is his oyster.

Makes sense.

And what's he's saying to other teams is you can have Tony for free.... But not a moment before TC.

Your move Houston. Piss or get off the pot Denver.
Or, maybe he is hoping that this assertion will lull teams into a false security to not address the QB position in the draft with the understanding that they can still get Romo. By TC, it will be too late to make any move of note without giving up picks. Then Jones sits back and waits for his phone to ring...Maybe...

One of Tony's options is showing up at the Star for the mandatory conditioning and then the mandatory OTAs. That would be quite awkward and create a media **** storm. And with Tony's contract, the Cowboys can't risk him getting hurt at their facility.

I say just let him go. He has given so much to the Cowboys. He has been the biggest contributor in keeping the team relevant over the years. More importantly, he has been pure class about everything. He is a special case with all that he has done where you can't help but root for his success. Put him in a situation to have a great chance to finish his career on top. Silence all the critics for good. He has Hall of Fame attitude and talent. He put the team first, and I think its time the team put him first... Regardless of him going to Houston. Spirit and attitude is more important than an extra draft pick.

There's no reason to let him go. We don't need the cap space. Hell if they wanted to be really savage, they'd have him back up Dak next year and it would have zero impact on our offseason budget or plans.

I would keep him there until after preason game 3 or game 4. So any team that wish to get Romo will not have full utilization of him. They will basically playing for next year. You dont want to give up a pick? Then fine, you can have him but not until the start of the season.

Yea, this is a total BS statement by Jerry that they are going to hold onto Romo until training camp. There is no way they are going to let Romo into the facility to start lifting weights and working out in the conditioning program, along with the mini-camps and everything else.

If Romo hurts himself while at the facility, the team is responsible for his entire $14 million salary. Not saying Romo would do this, but the possibility exists that Romo could fake a "soft tissue injury" and there is really no way to prove it and besides, the team would have to basically call Romo a liar in the media and that is not going to happen.

Agree with everything except the just let him go part. Romo is worth $45M, he's been very well compensated for his service to this team over the years. I don't see anything wrong with the FO trying to get something in return. We're on the cusp of turning that corner, anything to help the team is good IMO.

Trading him to Cleveland or the like, that would be pretty crappy tho.
