Man, I love Romo and I wish the best for him, but damn I cannot wait until this whole debacle is over. Tired of reading/hearing about it.
Makes sense.
And what's he's saying to other teams is you can have Tony for free.... But not a moment before TC.
Your move Houston. Piss or get off the pot Denver.
Romo does not lift weights or work out.Yea, this is a total BS statement by Jerry that they are going to hold onto Romo until training camp. There is no way they are going to let Romo into the facility to start lifting weights and working out in the conditioning program, along with the mini-camps and everything else.
If Romo hurts himself while at the facility, the team is responsible for his entire $14 million salary. Not saying Romo would do this, but the possibility exists that Romo could fake a "soft tissue injury" and there is really no way to prove it and besides, the team would have to basically call Romo a liar in the media and that is not going to happen.

That would be an incredible waste of Romo's value to do that. Moving up in this draft isn't going to net a player significantly better than what can be drafted at 28. Getting an additional pick is far more valuable to the Cowboys even if it was a 4th or 5th rounder.I think we trade him at the draft. Move up few spots and trade him to Denver or Houston
I would keep him there until after preason game 3 or game 4. So any team that wish to get Romo will not have full utilization of him. They will basically playing for next year. You dont want to give up a pick? Then fine, you can have him but not until the start of the season.
I mentioned in another thread that the longer this goes on, the more I think retirement is a real option.I wonder if Romo is going to retire if nobody trades for him.
2-3 hour workouts nearly every day for the last 3 years. yes he does. Just not heavy lifting except the legsRomo does not lift weights or work out.
If Jerry ever wants leverage, he should keep his mouth shut
You'll probably see movement after the draft if something is going to happen. Maybe Houston and/or Denver take a QB high and go that route. If not, teams are more willing to part with picks after the draft. This is the time of year where picks are more valuable than players to most teams and they're hoarded. Was listening to the NFLN morning show before work this morning and those folks make no sense.
Dallas is under no obligation to get rid of Romo now.
Clearly, (at least in my mind) Dallas holds leverage with Houston because they only have Tom Savage and some othe schlub I can't remember. I think they got caught with their pants down when anticipating Romo's release when they dumped Osweiler to create the salary cap room to take on Romo.
The deeper we go into the offseason the more they'll want to get started melding a new QB like Romo with the franchise and teammates. I'm predicting they give up a mid-round pick (3rd-4th) for Romo in the next few weeks.
While I still would take practically anything this year, trading him for a 2018 conditional choice is just a small step above cutting him.So basically we aren't getting anything for him in this year's draft. Possibly something in 2018 if anything at all. As soon as somebody's QB goes down in TC his stock will shoot up. We aren't targeting any free agents so there is nothing to gain to release him now.
Unless a contender with no back up like Atlanta or Kansas City loses their starter at some point. While I still would take practically anything this year, trading him for a 2018 conditional choice is just a small step above cutting him.
And I'm sure NFLN and ESPN could find room for him.1 Stay with Dallas as backup
2 wait for release, and go to Houston
3 wait for release, and go to Denver
4 Retire
5 Fox
6 CBS
5-6 is a good amount of options.
