Jerry to fans who don't believe in this front office

In the gold miner in the room with us now?

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on his message to Cowboys fans who are concerned that the team’s front office can’t turn this team around:

“It reminds me of the old gold miner out in the 49er days of the gold rush of San Francisco. And that old broken down gold miner, he’s got a bad back, his hands have so much arthritis from swinging that pick. And he’s sitting out there and he’s just picking on rock, and nothing’s happening. But the most sure way for nothing to happen is for him to quit picking. And so you keep swinging the pick.

“Now, from the day we’ve become involved here, we said we’re going to swing the pick. That hasn’t changed. But we’re sure not going to quit. And I’ll assure you that I’ve been in many things in my life, including times with the Cowboys, that that type of persistence breeds the kind of results our fans want. And that’s a winning football team.”

Time to put ol' Jerrah out to Passure >.> Doesn't even know what team he is GM, talking about 49ers ;)

I'll be honest with you. His response here makes me seriously reevaluate my stance.

I never thought about swinging picks with arthritis and that's on me.
Can we get another picker? Maybe they will have a different pick to extract a Super Bowl?? The arthritic old geezer the past 30 years should only be picking his nose in a recliner!

Wow what a commentary of our times.

An older geriatric who is out of touch with reality using obtuse examples to say one thing, but behaving differently.

Yes, we should continually give the microphone and our unyielding support to these captains of our society.

That's it. He knows he can't figure it out. The legacy is set. Billions in the bank. Fans hate him so he hates the fans back.

Exactly, and it seems that now, he wants the fans to be as miserable as possible. That's why he's been friending it up with Stephen A Smith who makes his living on our misery. Its why he's doing everything possible to ruin the Cowboys and strength our rivals like the Packers. Our own owner hates the Dallas Cowboys and has betrayed the Dallas Cowboys. I think Jerry Jones is a traitor.

Jerruh’s been swinging that pick for 30 years. The discussion here is did he “strike it rich” and find gold? Jerry thinks he did. He’s got 3 SBs, a hall of fame jacket, and a franchise worth more than any other in the world. He’s laughing at Cowboys fans.

I'll be 70 next month. Several years ago I told my wife to shoot me if I ever start to talk like an old, old man.
Example A: Mr. Jerry Jones.

It's kinda sorry how people attack his age. I guess we're all headed there..

That perfectly explains why they tried to bring McCarthy back before hiring Schottenheimer.
Do you have proof of this? I’ve never heard that in any way shape or form. Social media gets it’s bum wrap, and deservedly so, from yahoos who throw out lies knowing other yahoos will swallow.

ON JAN. 13, the Cowboys released a statement from Jones saying he and Mike McCarthy, whose contract as head coach had expired after five seasons, agreed to part ways. That concluded days of meetings regarding the fallout from a 7-10 finish.

While no financial figures were discussed, the length of a proposed agreement was a sticking point. McCarthy was seeking a five-year deal, according to multiple sources, while Jones was sticking with three.

At an impasse, both sides agreed it was time to move on.
