No non Cowboy games get "huge viewership". The national televised games will probably be announced before Romo even leaves Dallas.

I'm sure they will see an uptick but nothing significant. Cowboy fans aren't fair weather fans likes Colt fans were when they followed Peyton to Denver.
Yep. Romo was only popular watch because he was on the Cowboys. America loves to root against the Cowboys.Cowboy haters loved them some Romo.

Unless he starts fumbling and bumbling in Houston. America loves Bloopers.

Romo doesn't make Houston Americas Team!!

Look, if he restructures his contract and that will help with a trade with Denver or Houston on anybody? Great
If we get at least a 3rd-4th rounder at this point? Great
If he was willing to stay as backup? Great in theory, but in reality the media would destroy this possibility.

No, but he makes them America's fascination for the time being.

Houston wins that division with ease with a healthy Romo. And the media would show us Jerry squirm.

Not really. Best backup in the league, by a mile. If it costs the same to cut him, why not keep him?

It doesn't cost the same...

5 million is 5 million, that is a few players salary.

I believe holding onto him also limits our flexibility with his salary in the 2018 offseason. Get him off the books as soon as possible so we can build around Dak's 700K salary before he gets his own bloated 200 million dollar contract.

Having a pro bowl caliber QB making 700K should be such a huge advantage, it won Seattle a super bowl and has them make an appearance in another. To piss away an opportunity like that is bad management.

Get Romo off the books as soon as possible and use that savings to take advantage of the 2-3 years we have a quarterback making peanuts by BUILDING A DEFENSE!

Denver is more likely to carry a QB to SB with their defense.
Houston can't. Won't.

He has to think big picture, wider scope,

Marketability. He has Dak. Bigger marketability. He's on the way in... Romo on way out.
Send him to Houston, let them have.... maybe.. a slight edge in marketability for one year? Big deal.
Houston had the #1 defense last year without JJ Watt, made it to the divisional round with brock Osweiller at qb and are in a crap division, a healthy Romo (yea I know) gives them as good a chance as anyone to get past New England.

IF Elway gets Romo he will add enough pieces to team to advance deep in playoffs again (did it before)
We saw him lose super bowl then load up and win it.

I can see Elway 2.0: Romo

Elway 1.0: Manning

He said come to Denver to win super bowl.
Didn't work.

He said come back one more year.
It worked.

He knows he can find a way

I take one look at that offensive line and think that Romo wouldn't last a month. They were terrible last year, and outside of Ron Leary, I don't see where they've gotten any better.

One can have faith in Elway's track record thus far, but you have to ask, where's he getting a competent offensive line at this point?

Houston on the other hand looks to be in good shape outside of one position - right tackle. I'd give them a much better chance to fill that one spot than for Denver to fill all of their holes.

That's completely my thinking as well.

To say nothing of the huge coaching turnover happening in Denver as well.

Yeah that division is cake.

Offensively, their playmakers are comparable to Denver as well.

Houston won that division without Romo or even an average QB.

Why wouldn't we expect Romo to have more success with this Houston team than with this Dallas team?

I think Jerry would be proud as a peacock. It would validate his belief in him.

I tend to agree. I've liked romo throughout the years but he is nowhere near the most popular players in the NFL, probably not even at his own position. I don't know where this idea about romo pulling a national audience came from.

Chances of Romo surving a season is slim.
Denver proved they could carry Peyton and backup QB simultaneously.

Houston couldn't do it for 2 games.
Yes, chanced are slim. It's a gamble but it could pay out big. Romo is good enough to turn around a franchise. I think Houston is a perfect fit.

It's not about popularity. It's about fascination. It's about winning.

What if Houston is 7-2 with Romo playing lights out, while Dallas is 4-5 struggling to win under their young QB and horrific defense? That's a very real possibility.

Jerry will reach a deal at the owner's meeting next week with the Texans I'm guessing he'll settle for basically a bag of peanuts Romo will either be traded or released

End of story thank God

I'd expect Houston with Romo to contend for the SB. Shoot they took the World Champions to the 4th Qtr In the playoffs at Foxborough without Romo

Here in Dallas until we build a formidable defense I wouldn't expect Romo or Dak to seriously contend for the SB.

It's sounding like some fans are struggling with the fact that Romo is not bringing any trade offers.

I should go back and search for some threads by those who thought Romo would bring much more.

No, this sounds like more Romo lust into why he's still on the Cowboy roster .

And don't kid yourself. That haunts Jerry right now, especially if Dak struggles his sophomore season. Much more will be asked of the QB here this year with a lesser line, a tougher schedule, and a mysterious defense.

Oh no...... "get past New England"?? I have nightmares how stupid coaching has given them the last two Super Bowls.... no one gets past them.... UNTIL THEY DO.... :)

Houston and Atlanta shook the world.... until ... well... the end of the world came for them.

I trust Dak more now.... already... THAN I EVER TRUSTED Romo to make a run.

Your still placing all the hurdles for Dak much like you did going into almost every game and stretch last year.

You can't let Romo go.
