Oh no...... "get past New England"?? I have nightmares how stupid coaching has given them the last two Super Bowls.... no one gets past them.... UNTIL THEY DO.... :)

Houston and Atlanta shook the world.... until ... well... the end of the world came for them.

I trust Dak more now.... already... THAN I EVER TRUSTED Romo to make a run.
It's not only about trust but Dak and Zeke have won the hearts over with most Cowboy fans.

It was a big part of the decision for Jerry not placing Romo back in. It wasn't all about the winning streak.

Dak and Zeke have instantly become an Iconic label for the Cowboys. I haven't seen this kind of wave since maybe the early 90's. They achieved basically as much as Romo did in 10 years.

I think fans know this defense needs tweaking and expect more of a struggle this year but Dak was up to every challenge and hurdle last year doubters placed.

It's not about popularity. It's about fascination. It's about winning.

What if Houston is 7-2 with Romo playing lights out, while Dallas is 4-5 struggling to win under their young QB and horrific defense? That's a very real possibility.

I agree it's a possibility, anything can happen. I don't agree that fascination with romo on a winning Texans team would bring a national audience.

Atlanta and Carolina most recently did not have any national audiences and they were arguably better. Romo just isn't an exciting player off the field, he's too stable and professional. He's what appears to be a happily married man with kids. If romo was there when he was still young and involved with Jessica Simpson and Carrie underwood then I could believe a national audience would be dragged in and more people would be interested with a romo led Texans team.

I think the title of this thread should be..

" Erod wants his Romo"

Jerry could have him if he wanted but has chosen otherwise and placed his hero on the block. Tic Tock until June 1st.

Bingo!

Back in the 90s.... before every game I felt like I was going into a title fight... Emmitt, Aikman, Irvin and company made me feel that way!

Now... Dak and Zeke and Bryant had me feeling that way again!

Honestly, with Romo... I was always waiting for/expecting a turnover. Just get my honest.

Not really. Best backup in the league, by a mile. If it costs the same to cut him, why not keep him?
Do you think Tony would agree to that? I actually think he'll keep him to June 1, but I would hope that he plays hardball through camp.

your hangup with New England in the Super Bowl is comical and has nothing to do with my response. The AFC goes through New England.

All at the team's expense. Terrible GM.
Half the fans say he is a terrible GM if he cuts Romo.
You are in the half that says he is terrible because he doesn't cut Romo.

Which one is the terrible GM? Cut him for nothing or hold him until someone gives up something for him.

I don't think Romo will play that role. I'm glad that Jerry is holding on to him (although I'm not entirely sure of his motivation) hopefully he'll not blink until the end of camp.
I know that he would if he didn't have a choice.

Well, let's all agree that he was a terrible contract from the get-go, and the options thereafter are sort of meaningless. Hopefully we get a trade out of it, but I'm unsure about Jerry's ultimate motivation. If he is playing poker, he's left his cards face up with a little spittle on em.

It was a good contract. If we didn't luck into Dak Prescott, then you would be singing a different tune.

Wasn't the schedule supposed to be tough last year? considering Dak was a raw rookie. Football is a team sport, if Dallas doesn't have a good year, I'm sure it won't just be Dak that contributes to the down year. As for the tough schedule, all NFL teams are tough to some degree, some more so than others. Parity has existed in the league for some time now, different teams rise and fall each year, so it's hard to say who will be tough and who will not each year(exception the Patriots). The schedule has to play itself out.

I think Dallas is looking to get something but prepared to cut him loose if they can't. I think the Cowboys are doing the right thing at this stage. In the end I don't think saving money on the cap is getting nothing. My hope is Cowboys will get something for Romo but it is possible that they don't.

The longer this plays out, the more apparent it is Dallas has good cards to play without truly harming Romo. The longer they hold him, the more pressure there is on the teams that expected him to be a FA. The odds of him getting injured in OTAs are small, but what if he does? He retires, which is at least possible, in any case. If they hold him through OTAs, any team that wants him will feel more compelled to give up a draft pick or two. If nobody has been willing to do so by TC, he can always be released. At that point, someone will sign him. In a league so bereft of QBs, he will be a hot commodity whenever he is available and will get a good contract. But would a contending team really choose to keep a draft pick over having a new starting QB available for the off-season program? I doubt it.

Dallas can let this play out and should. I do feel they owe Romo some loyalty, and I am a huge Romo fan. I just don't see how he is being harmed by the delay. In fact, he is able to stay home with his family, enjoy life and continue to heal. At the point a trade is made or he is released, he will have the chance for a very nice payday.

And don't kid yourself. That haunts Jerry right now, especially if Dak struggles his sophomore season. Much more will be asked of the QB here this year with a lesser line, a tougher schedule, and a mysterious defense.

I will guarantee that Dak doesn't have much of/if any "softmore slump".

You saw him get better and learn "in game" ... "next game" last year. Exponential growth. That's rare.

This type of guy gets better... he doesn't regress much.

I'm betting "his process" is faster than Garrets "process".

He doesn't have to. He's under contract.
Sure he does.
Contracts are broken by either party...most often and regularly by the team, but sometimes by the player:
  1. Teams cut players under contract all the time
  2. Players under contract retire
You for sure know this already
