He had an extra first round pick last draft and fans here are like, “He’s so good!”
Well, he had that because he traded Wentz to Indy. Howie spent a ton to get Wentz in the first place. He used multiple picks to move up to get him and on top of that, signed that chump to a huge contract. He then had to eat salary to even trade him to Indy.
Yeah, over all that is an “L” for Howie.
And he will have another draft pick this season from the Jalen Reagor trade. A 7th round pick. That’s for a guy that Howie spent a first round pick on and who he thought was better than Justin Jefferson.
He is a trading, free agent signing fool but he can’t draft for crap.
Howie finally realized that he sucks at the draft, so the last couple of years he decided to just draft guys from big SEC schools early and hope for the best.
Devonta Smith in the first and Dickerson in the 2nd from Alabama last year. This year he took Davis and Dean from Georgia in the 1st and 3rd. Of course his 2nd this year wasn’t from the SEC… but he had to get Kelsey to scout a decent center for him and then picked who Kelsey wanted, lol.
And of course, he gave up completely on drafting a WR this year and just traded for Brown, who he will be paying $25M/year to. That is a GM who knows he sucks at picking WR’s. And of course he had to give up a first plus to get a WR because his Reagor pick that he spent another first on was so God awful. It’s comical.
Had Dallas done this, fans here would be going bonkers.
Howie’s first round picks from 2014 to 2020:
2014 Marcus smith - BUST
2015 Nelson Agholor - BUST
2016 Carson Wentz - well, y’all know.
2017 Derrick Barnett - BUST
2018 No Pick
2019 Andre Dillard - BUST
2020 Jalen Reagor - BUST
Just beyond terrible.
Really the only pick there that Howie can’t be blamed for is Nelson Agholor because that was the year that Chip Kelly kicked him out of the front office. And what is funny about that is that Agholor is probably the best pick out of that group. Especially considering how much draft capital and actual money he gave up for/to Wentz.
