That's a ridiculous point. Absolutely wrong. You have no concept of market value or the extreme risk of QB drafting. Your definition of elite probably consists of all QBs that aren't Dak.
QBs don't grow on trees, the numbers absolutely show this, all you have to do is spend a little time researching the drafts. If you don't pay a franchise QB, you will never have a QB.

All these points have merit but I contend that you have to invest in the position and we clearly have not since Aikman retired. Getting lucky with Romo and to an extent with Dak is just that luck and not a reliable way to manage that position. How many second round TEs have we drafted when we could have had a developmental QB waiting in the wings that has more passing ability than a Cooper Rush? Maybe we wouldn’t have felt obliged to pay Dak 40 million a year had we been grooming a true replacement because that kind of money should be reserved for true franchise QBs and Dak just isn’t.
