Chocolate Lab;2700359 said:Apparently TO gave us 10 points a game all by himself.

I am exhausted with changes, and new leaves, and new chapters.
It's kind of ironic that the word we heard coming out of that debacle vs the Eagles was "consistency"...now some are applauding the changes.
I think this team is actually moving in the right direction...but I'm not counting on anything until I see it....been down this road one too many times already.
No, he didn't. 10 TDs is 60 points divided by 16 games is 3.8 points per game.AKATheRake;2700676 said:No, but he almost gave us 6 a game and helped us move the football 11 to 13 football fields a season just on individual production. You don't think Having T.O helps give Witten a little more breathing room out there either? He had to go but the production will be difficult to replace any way the organization and fans spin it. Get me Torry Holt and we have a better fit for this offense.
YoMick;2700358 said:Whats funny is... we had a proven product. THAT product put up points.
Without that part of the product we couldnt even score ONE TD..
Laugh it up.
TO is gone. Fine. He had to go.
My concern is this team and winning. Not an agenda thread. TO is gone - we are better.
WE DONT KNOW THAT.
As I already said it wasn't his thumb and I think after the Giants game the problem was his back and ribs. The Giants beat the holy crap out of him and everyone seems to forget that. How he completed that game is beyond me. Those 3 teams continued the pounding and never let up. I will never understand people who think Tony Romo was healthy in 2008 except for a few games missed. No way, no shape, no how.stasheroo;2700666 said:Thanks for the number.
I personally feel that all stats - for everyone involved, should be complately disregarded because of how inept Johnson was when he played.
It was beyond horrible and no one should have their accomplishments and efforts sullied by a quarterback who was no longer capable of playing.
Except for the guy(s) who insisted that Johnson should be here and could still play.
There's the responsible party.
And again, as for the Tony Romo thumb injury excuse, it's funny how it didn't seem to bother him when he carved up the 49'ers, Seahawks, and even the Giants. But it 'flared up' against the Steelers, Ravens, and Eagles.
Sorry, I don't buy that.
And the people who talk about Owens' supposed influence and a poor locker room need to realize that the same owner and coaches who allowed any such problems to occur are still here.
While I don't agree with the team releasing Owens, it's not suddenly bereft of talent. If utilized to their strengths, this offense can still be tough for opponents to handle.

It's still here, just to a lesser degree.
The only thing that will save this team is getting back to the basics. Throwing, catching, tackling, and mechanics. We have the talent. We need to go back to square one.
Juke99;2700689 said:Yo...I'm as hopeful as the next guy....but there's a dejavu feeling to all of this...we've been down this road before. Let's wait to see if any of this translates into results on the field...the only place it counts

But if it's fair to complain when Jerry lets TO run wild, blames Tommy Jones for Pacman getting suspended, and tells the world that we love controversy, it's also fair to applaud him when he seemingly tries to reverse some of those mistakes.

Like how a good draft or Free Agent addition can really help your team. How do you know it will help until it actually helps? You don't, but you should be silent about it and not speculate?
I confess, I don't get that. Half the fun of the game is the dreams and the worries.
Juke99;2700741 said:Yes, ten years ago, I would agree.
But just as quickly, Jerry could spin on a dime and undo everything he's done so far in the off season.
Nope. Been down this road. It's like Lucy pulling the football from Charlie Brown. I'm waiting until I see the ball firmly on a kicking tee.

I completely disagree with that. It is incumbent on the O-line and their coaches to keep Romo upright in 2009. In 2007 he proved that he can escape amazing pressure. In 2008 he was not healthy enough to do so.stasheroo;2700757 said:Not you.
Someone else mentioned the thumb as an excuse.
I'm not suggesting Romo was 100%, but at that point of the season, nobody is.
But in my opinion, his issues had more to do with bad decisions and carelessness with the football than they did with being banged up.
But his linemen sure didn't do him any favors and I'd remember that if I were him.
I remember the linemen all taking great pride early in the season when people weren't getting to Romo.
Well they should take the shame in the fact that he was getting smacked around late in the season too.
But it's my opinion that good coordinators affected Romo more than injuries did.
