Jerry Jones also made some concessions about the roster and some of the decisions but when I asked him if he would concede the role given the scrutiny of it this season the answer was, “ No. I bought the team and…somebody asked, ‘Did you buy this for your kids?’ And I said hell no. I bought it for me. I didn’t buy an investment … I bought an occupation.” He went on to say “the facts are…since I have to decide where the money is spent, then you might as well cut all the BS. That's who's making the call anyway.”

OMG, what a word salad.

I remember last few years of Al Davis. he was loud. opinionated and made stupid moves because he was in charge....Jerry is exactly the same.
ego driven owner who is senile and has no intention of actually building a championship team.

Well he was on last night’s episode of Landman playing himself. His part was him basically talking about owning the Cowboys and how great it is he works with his kids.

Here's the thing.

Even IF Jerry hired a GM it wouldn't matter.

He would still control all aspects of everything and not let the GM do their job.

There will never be a GM other than Jerry regardless if he holds the title or someone else does.
And that's pretty much what Jerry just said in his own semi-literate, half senile, Arkansas booze hound manner of speaking.

We are smack dab into the senile Al Davis days that the Raiders went through. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. The Dallas Cowboys are run by a senile rich old man who bought his toy and now only he gets to play with it.
3 decades and counting. Dark days as Cowboys fans for sure. Keep McCarty, let him go, does it really matter as long as this clown is running things?
This was the first season I checked out as a fan and became a casually one. I will be sleep mode until Jerry is gone.
Right there with you. I checked out this season too the moment it was announced a couple of hours before the first game of the season that this clown show signed Dak to the most expensive contract given to a QB despite a resume of only having won two playoff games during his nine seasons. A true GM would have allowed Dak to play out his contract.

We've known this forever, its a toy for him, i let go of hard-core fandom long ago, but man I feel for my fellow fans that live and die by this team, because I think Stephen is going ot be worse.

This is why i just followed updates on here and twitter. I hardly watched any games this year. I'm done until a major change in the front office.
I mean in reality your done then because there is no change coming...and kudos to you for being able to lay this down because its certainly a dead end now.

Maybe. Only saving grace is i can outlive Jerry and his sons.
I can probably outlive Jerry; he's got 12 years on me. But his son? Very doubtful.

If I'm still alive and cognizant when Jerry's gone or out of control of the Cowboys, and Stephen takes over, I'll have a decision to make - whether to remain a Cowboys fan for the rest of my life, remain a Cowboys fan for a few years to see what Stephen will do, or leave the team I've been a fan of for the last 56 years.

None of those 3 choices are very palatable.

Will cross that bridge when I come to it...

Just think if we lived in an alternate dimension and Jerry had decided to take up collecting electric trains for his basement hobby rather than purchasing the Cowboys.

Exactly and why those that want to dismiss MM better think twice about that notion..
