Well, at least we know that Jerry has enjoyed the offseason up to this point.
Kind of shocked by this comment from you. You are generally critical of things, but don't stoop to sensationalism. Ah well, no harm, no foul. This is the bed Jerry made.Alexander;3346849 said:Probably on a three day bender.

I was stating that this story is not about to "blow up" . . . because it's a non-story.
It was partially made tongue in cheek, but that decision was most certainly one of the more impulsive decisions he has ever made and it was fueled by his love for the player. He wanted him badly and eventually got willingly raked over the coals.Hostile;3346851 said:Kind of shocked by this comment from you. The thing is, I think it is a story, whether we like it or not. On our board, it may set the record for responses. It's on TV, on sports news sites, it's on Facebook.
It may be stupid, ugly, embarrassing, overblown .... but I think it's a story.

And it does sound like he could have easily woke up the next day and said "I traded what?"

We were quite amazed to see Sportscenter mention ********'s video of a slurring Jerry Jones this morning, then even more surprised to see them play the entire video.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen came on quickly thereafter, and said he would be very surprised if the NFL takes any action against Jones.
Yes, the league holds their owners to a higher standard, as evidenced by the Bud Adams fine last year. But Jones was secretly videotaped at a bar, and little of what he said was particularly controversial or untrue.
Jones' assessment of Bill Parcells was harsh, but also included "love" for the Big Tuna.
The story may be embarrassing, but Mortensen said it's not likely to have any legs with the league. That's the only conclusion that makes sense.

Alexander;3346919 said:It was foolish and embarassingly idiotic, but I cannot fathom that it was even seriously considered by anyone that the league would "take action".
This kind of backroom talk goes on all the time, except that most of the time owners do not get caught stumbling over their words by someone with a cellphone. It is not an issue he got caught drunk at all. Irsay so drunk he could barely stand and holding the Lombardi trophy a few years ago and it was not an issue.
The problem is that Jones might have a little bit of explaining to do to his team, to Bill Parcells and he will answer on his deathbed to the Almighty for his insolence regarding The Tebow. But I am sure quite a few of the Cowboys have seen Good Ol' Jer' three sheets to the wind.
I do not think he regrets it still, and I doubt he would publicly admit it even if he did. He will be defiant until the bitter end and when he finally is cut, I doubt you will see many apologies.theebs;3346914 said:after seeing what boldin and marshall, two better football players have been traded for and what they are getting salary wise.
he probably wakes up everyday and says I traded what? And then drops some f bombs!
News flash, Jerry Jones has been known to get drunk and say stupid things.BAZ;3346911 said:Could I get the CliffsNotes from this thread?
I sent Dale Hansen an e-mail and he responded right away. Both happened in the 1980's and were mini scandals by the DFW media on who would report it and who wouldn't. The player in the picture was Harvey Martin and a news source was trying to frame him.theebs;3346812 said:oh sorry bout that. I am not sure, I think he was speaking in general terms.
Although I imagine since he was with the team every week in the 90s that he is talking about something he knows happens, but I sure dont.

Some Jerry Jones Apologists takes:
Wasn't actually him
Film was doctored
No big deal
Some Jerry Jones Bashers takes:
This is why we don't win Superbowls
Jerry is the root of all evil
This is the biggest deal ever
