The thing is I don't know who in the local media will have the cahonies to write about this.

It was off the record stuff and I could see nobody locally touching this.

They will write about this.. & so what if they do, it just adds to the long list of things Jerry has said. This will die in a week, let em write. Just put a SB banner up in this new stadium and they can write for days what they think of drunk Jerry

What's it going to be then, eh?

Proof positive that when Jerry Jones drinks bad things happen.

I wonder how willing Bill Parcells will be to give Dallas much consideration in trade now that he wasn't worth a ****. But hey, Jerry "loved him".

Haven't seen if this was answered yet, but I watched channel 8 news last night, and expected Dale to have a field day with this. He didn't. Hansen did NOT want to run the story, or at least he said he did not. Before showing the video, he ranted about the person that took the video, then trying to make money off it, he talked about how journalism has gone downhill because of stories like that, and even went off on the producers of his station for opting to run the story, when he didn't think it was appropriate to do so. The producers argument was that it's already out there, has been reported therefore they should report it also.

Yeah, he's on The Ticket right now. He was really P.O.'ed at his news director for airing it. He felt like it crossed over journalism and went into the realm of TMZ gossip.
Hmm, so my earlier posts on that subject weren't as insane as some seemed to think.

It only stands to reason that if fans are divided on a topic the media might be too.

I cant stand dale hansen.

Having said that, he was just on with the musers and it was a tremendous segment. It was all about what is news and what isnt.

He took shots at mike doocy for running this as the lead news story, not just sports story and he took shots at laufenberg who didnt even mention it. Babe had a piece on the rangers, mavericks playoff position and the future of mike modano..

by the way I applaud babe for that.

anyway, if anyone has the ticket podcast from unticket.com or from dc at some point I highly recommend you listen. You will definitely love it!

That's the best observation made regarding this incident. The Cowboys should not expect any trades with Miami as long as Parcells is involved.

Additionally, Parcells guys (there's quite a few of them) throughout the league will take offense to the remark, and respond with varying degrees of indifference and boycott of Jerry Jones.

I'm certain that Witten was not happy about the Parcells comment, he will probably execute better judgement and not say anything publicly. But Parcells believed in him and was able to maximize his potential in very short order. So you know Witten cannot be too pleased with the comments.

Jerry Jones may want to consider hiring a posse like he required for Pacman Jones to keep cell phone cameras away when he goes to a bar. HA! How ironic. In light of the recent cleanup of the team image, he probably needs to trade himself to Buffalo for a year.

Dale Hansen said:
The bad stories, the embarrassing stories, about some of the most powerful people in this town — the stories about the people who come into your home every night at 6 and 10 — those stories somehow never see the light of day, unless one of the other stations decides to (and sometimes, they do).

News anchors who commit suicide "passed away during the night."
News anchors posing for pictures with drug dealers are cropped out of the shot so a Cowboys player can be shown.

It's a slippery slope we're on, and we've been sliding downhill a long time now because no one wants to lead anymore... everyone wants to follow.

He is commenting in general on stations that will not say bad things about their own employees problems yet will happily tell the truth if that kind of thing happens to a person at a rival network.

That is why he was taking shots at laufenberg this morning. WHich is really contradictory of him. He said he didnt want to show it because it wasnt news, but then slams babe for not showing it!

He said cbs11 didnt show it because they are the cowboys station and have special edition with jerry jones, also because laufenberg is paid by the cowboys as a broadcaster.

Yeah, Hansen is an egomaniac and he drives me crazy sometimes, but he is very principled. I've heard him rant about the decline in journalistic standards many times before, and I have to kind of admire him for it.

Of course the younger people will say that he's a dinosaur, and why not show this stuff if it's out there. It is a gray area.

I suspect the Tiger Woods scandal changed a lot of opinions on this because outlets like TMZ and National Enquirer that were considered scummy, bottom-of-the-barrel tabloids scooped everyone and got huge ratings/web hits out of it while the more traditional news outlets were left behind.

Call me crazy . . . but I seriously doubt anyone outside of message board visitors with not much else to do will take this "incident" too seriously.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

What News anchor committed suicide?

What news anchor was cropped out of a picture with drug dealers so a Cowboys player could be exploited?

oh sorry bout that. I am not sure, I think he was speaking in general terms.

Although I imagine since he was with the team every week in the 90s that he is talking about something he knows happens, but I sure dont.

Okay, that makes sense. I think those things did happen. Just the way he said was accusatory in nature.

This whole story has me thinking of Dopn Henley's song "Dirty Laundry."

I make my living off the Evening News
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em all around

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam
in her eye
It's interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry

You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down

Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff
Kick 'em all around

Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry

We can do "The Innuendo"
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done we haven't told you a thing
We all know that Crap is King
Give us dirty laundry!
