The Jets have expressed interest in free agent cornerback Brandon Carr, as Connor Hughes of NJ.com writes. Carr, who spent the last five years in Dallas and who will turn 31 in May, contemplated retirement after the Cowboys’ 2016 season came to an end, but he ultimately decided to continue his playing career and test the free agent market.

He took a significant paycut last offseason, agreeing to lower his base salary from $9.1MM to $4.25MM in the final year of the five-year, $50.1MM pact he signed with the Cowboys prior to the 2012 season. He never quite lived up to that contract, but he is still a serviceable player. In 2016, Carr played 96% of Dallas’ defensive snaps, posted one interception, and graded as the NFL’s No. 52 cornerback among 114 qualifiers, per Pro Football Focus. He is also durable, having never missed a game in his nine-year career.

After signing Carroll, I think they decided to let Carr and Mo test the FA market for a while. We have Scandrick and Brown. And the draft is deep in DB's.
So they may just stand where they are for now.
But if Carr goes to the Jets, then I still would not be opposed to bring back Mo, on another 1 year deal.
If Mo signs somewhere, and Carr doesn't, same for him, a 1 year deal.

But I think this plays out for a while. We will sit back and let thing unfold for a little bit.

Carr is probably a player we are interested in but we are waiting it out until his value decreases. If him and his agent are willing to accept the offer that we probably have for him then he will be back. If the Jets want to pay him more, he is a Jet.

Can't blame these players though, this will surely be the last contract of his career.

I don't mind the Nolan Carroll acquisition, but I was hoping it was for depth. I would say him and Carr are about equal so wouldn't bother me if Carr left. Claiborne just can't stay healthy for us, unfortunately. AB looked great in his rookie year but I'm not ready to go all in on him just yet.

I would be shocked if our first three picks arent two corners and a D lineman.

I would be shocked if we picked 2 corners with the 1st 3 picks. We need a ss with Church/Wilcox gone.

So much for the Jets cleaning house eh? Not sure why they would be interested now.....

So #52 of 64 starters is "serviceable" now? Not to me. The Cowboys didn't bring Carr in to be serviceable. He has been a huge disappointment and being durable doesn't change that in any way.

I hope so.

But I feel we start the season with ...

CB - Carroll, Brown
Slot - Scandrick
FS - Jones
SS - Heath / Frazier

May have a late round corner in there somewhere

I fully expect either Carr or Claiborne to return to Dallas.

Same here, and I'm honestly surprised Carr hasn't been re-signed already. I can't help but think he's angling for more money than he's worth.

If he is, and willing to uproot everything for one year of money playing for an awful Jets team, don't let the door hitcha!

At this stage in Carr's career with all the money he has already made, why would Carr go the Jets? The Jets are going nowhere in a hurry, and may have already reached their 'nowhere' destination even before the 2017 draft. The Jets are one sorry team. I'm sure Carr would rather play for vet min in Dallas than go to the Jets. At least in Dallas, he wouldn't have to move his family or be away from his family if they stay in Dallas.

I don't see Carr going to the Jets. Making $5M while playing on the 0-16 or 1-15 Jets doesn't sound like a fun way to play out the last year of a career for someone who made lots of money already.

Bringing Mo in on a 1 or even 2 year deal would be nice.

That is a below average secondary and if Jones or Scan get hurt-- it gets downright terriffying.

We need a starting caliber safety and a starting caliber CB in free agency if we lose Church, Wilcox, Carr, and Mo.

Carroll is fine IF he is your #4. We need to also add more talent in the draft. You simply cannot turnover your entire secondary in one season and NOT expect to take a huge step back

Yeah I don't think Carroll had anything to do with Carr or Claiborne. I think that move was for depth purposes. Now if those guys were to walk......you may say corner taken early.
