So #52 of 64 starters is "serviceable" now? Not to me. The Cowboys didn't bring Carr in to be serviceable. He has been a huge disappointment and being durable doesn't change that in any way.

Exactly..............who cares if he is Ironman2.0 if he sucks?

I bring him back on a cheap one year deal if he wants, but that's it.

I have always believed Carr to be a pretty good corner. I think with our pass rush a really good corner would struggle here. I was basically ok with keeping the Corners we had and upgrading the pass rush but what do I know?

Agreed. Doesn't matter who the corners are if they have to cover all day

As a secondary if we lose either Carr or Claiborne we will be worse than last year in the secondary. Carrol signing was a joke

Carr and his "no-fly zone" partner Mo Claiborne have combined for a whopping 3 interceptions since 2014.

Haha, yeah. Complete rebuild mode starting in the secondary this offseason with this draft.

I'd be okay with letting Carr go, but I'm also all for cutting all the dead weight and going young *this* season. People would need to realize, if they want that, then it's a rebuild year for the defense. You can't lose 4 guys in your secondary, 3 "starters" and one primary backup. Not when your defense wasn't great anyway.

I'd like to bring him back just because I think he's a pro's pro. Hasn't missed a game in his entire career, active in the community, never been in trouble. I think a young defense and secondary, in particular, could learn how to approach the game in the right way with him around.

I'm good either way.

I highly doubt Carroll will start here.
If we dont bring Carr, Claiborne or at least an equivalent, any guy we draft short of round 1 and maybe 2 will likely be the 4th CB with Scandrick and Brown as your top 2 and Carrol coming in on Nickle

FWIW, Carroll just turned 30. Carr will be 31 by the time the new seasons cranks up.

I wouldn't mind bringing Carr or, and I can't believe I'm saying this, Mo Claiborne back at reasonable price on a short-term contract. You'd then have Carroll, Brown, Claiborne, Carr and potentially a young CB through the draft to groom as a future starter.
As weird as it sounds, Id rather bring Mo back if we brought Carr back too as opposed to if we let Carr walk. I would feel alot better having Mo play if we had significant depth. Even before you add a draft pick, that would be a very deep CB position. I honestly have no issues having even a rather highly picked CB at the #5 spot in the depth chart at the onset. At some point they would see high usage anyways

My calendar says March 13th.

The season opener is 6 months away.

Plenty of time.

Plenty of time to do what? Pickings are now slim at CB in FA.

The Cowboys are now in a position where to fill their biggest holes on D - CB, SS and DE - they have to nail the draft again.

How likely is that?

the most critical being DE and CE, and also RT
heath is arguably good enough for SS with frazier backing up both jones and heath.

the only position they decisively addressed was WR

All I want to know is ... do we get a compensatory pick for Carr if he leaves?

A lot of fans don't understand that Carr wasn't just playing his side of the field as in the first few games with Mo. Once Mo went down, Carr carried the top receivers in the league all over the field 1-1, while Brown played second fiddle. This may have been his best season as a Cowboy.
