Plenty of time to do what? Pickings are now slim at CB in FA.

The Cowboys are now in a position where to fill their biggest holes on D - CB, SS and DE - they have to nail the draft again.

How likely is that?
Highly unlikely, especially considering where they draft.

Any updates on the Carr situation? I saw on Reddit that Claiborne is "very close" to signing a deal with Baltimore.

The Jets have expressed interest in free agent cornerback Brandon Carr, as Connor Hughes of NJ.com writes. Carr, who spent the last five years in Dallas and who will turn 31 in May, contemplated retirement after the Cowboys’ 2016 season came to an end, but he ultimately decided to continue his playing career and test the free agent market.

He took a significant paycut last offseason, agreeing to lower his base salary from $9.1MM to $4.25MM in the final year of the five-year, $50.1MM pact he signed with the Cowboys prior to the 2012 season. He never quite lived up to that contract, but he is still a serviceable player. In 2016, Carr played 96% of Dallas’ defensive snaps, posted one interception, and graded as the NFL’s No. 52 cornerback among 114 qualifiers, per Pro Football Focus. He is also durable, having never missed a game in his nine-year career.

So #52 of 64 starters is "serviceable" now? Not to me. The Cowboys didn't bring Carr in to be serviceable. He has been a huge disappointment and being durable doesn't change that in any way.

LOL...........yep he shows up and plays poorly EVERY year. LOL

Wow, what a dependable guy!! LOL

I hope so.

But I feel we start the season with ...

CB - Carroll, Brown
Slot - Scandrick
FS - Jones
SS - Heath / Frazier

May have a late round corner in there somewhere

That secondary wouldnt scare anyone.

We have Scandrick and Brown.

Nothing against this post really but it got me to thinking ....has there ever been a player more internally overrated than scandrick? I'm sure someone will dig something up to prove me wrong but I personally can't remember scandrick making a play in forever.

I know what you mean about Scandrick. However I will give him a bit of a break last year, coming off an ACL then having other issues, probably because of recovering from that, which those other injuries, was it a hamstring or groin, or both. Nagging him all year long.

But yes it seems forever since he made a big play.

Oh absolutely!! He had one season and has been living off of it. He doesn't make picks, misses tackles and has zero ball skills when the ball is in the air.

Last time I checked, the off season isn't over in the middle of March. The Cowboys first game is in September. That is almost full 6 months left to acquire players. Regarding the biggest holes on defense, the Cowboys plan has always been to address those in the draft. You didn't know that before? If not, you haven't been keeping up with the way the Cowboys do business. Sign a few role players to modest deals in free agency and build the roster in the draft. The mantra for several years now.
