Jim Burt says Canty is going to be a "Star".

Nickel DL has been Ellis Carson Glover Ware

Makes a lot of sense to me. Get our 3 best pass rushers in Ellis, Glover, Ware plus a vet who's good vs draws, screens, mis-direction stuff. Eventually I'd expect to see Spears or Canty in Carson's spot maybe next year.

Canty, Spears, Ferguson can implode the pocket. Don't understimate that. Ware, Glover and Ellis will get their reps there.

Of course they will since you'll see a 4 man line more than 50% of the time.

After being deprived for 10 years I'll take the speed rush guys vs the collapse pocket types in long yardage.

No more 20 second plays for McNabb.

You know what, I totally agree with you there.

All that beef on the front line with power = devastation.

Not -

3-4 is installed. I'm laughing at all this "nickel" talk. Being lost is the 3rd and long. Thats all 3-4.

75 -25% 3-4 MOVE ON ITS OVER! HOWARD TRADE IS DEAD!

Is this your first and last 3-4 thread!

I'll readily admit that 3-4 is going to the base and get the bulk of the reps, but this just confuses me.

Why go 3-4 in third and long? A 3 man front maybe, but not 3-4.

We won't. You're right. We will be multiple fronts and looks. We have some very versatile players. We will be able to disguise ourselves with more looks this year and blitz from all over the place....effectively. Just what it looks like right now. Now they have to produce.

Wrong Nors. Zimmer and Parcells have both said the "nickel" will be on the field at least 50% of the time and that it is a 4-2-5 with 4 defensive lineman.

So bring it baby! :)

I would expect nickel and dime in 3rd and long. 4-2-5, maybe 3-3-5, 4-1-6, etc.

3rd and 5? 3-4 wouldn't surprise me

3 and 10 or greater? It would be silly to not put more defensive backs in otherwise you are going to have matchup problems when teams go 4 wide.

Obvious passing downs? A three man front wouldn't surprise me, but thats not a 3-4.

I think some people are letting their agenda get in the way of sound football judgement.

Wrong - 3rd and long is vastly a 3-4 "prevent" defense. We used that a lot last year in 3rd and longs actually....

I'd check that game tape. There may have been 3 lineman, I don't think there were 4 linebackers. That is what makes a 3-4, you know.

I'm thinking 3-3-5. I don't think he wants to handicap his DL by taking the Big Boys off the field.

Proof is in the pudding! We will be a 3-4 defense in majority of snaps. Howard not here, Ellis ***** slapped and Glover gets his role.

This is about the future - Parcells style.

How is the Losman hot pants Favre escapade going over in Canada? That "West coast" open mindedness might no go over well North of the tundra line....

I get that -

Roy moves to LB in that scheme usually

Who would he take off the field?

In a 4-2-5, they have been lining up Ware, Ellis, Glover and Carson. I would expect Carson to eventually be replaced by Spears or Canty.

The only real difference in a 3-3-5 and a 4-2-5 would be that Ware might move around. Act more as an elephant type linebacker. Same difference, four pass rushers coming.

Plenty of big pass rushers on the field there.

You sure it wasn't the Quarter? Or did we not have enough uninjured DB's to run a true Quarter? lol.
