I know it's not cowboy related but I'd like to think we, football fans can all come together to say a quick prayer for Jim Johnson and his family at times like this. Sorry if it's a repost...

Jim Johnson's fight nearing end
Bob Grotz of the Delaware County Times reports former Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is said to be near the end of his courageous battle with melanoma.

Johnson, 68, took another turn for the worse recently according to sources and the muffled talk at Eagles training camp Tuesday morning was he was fighting to stay alive.

Head coach Andy Reid visited Johnson Monday night according to a source.

Johnson stepped aside as defensive coordinator after 10-plus years last week, enabling protege Sean McDermott to take over the job for the start of training camp.

I wish him peace and no pain.

I would love him to be better but it just seems that isn't possible.

You are on of the best Mr. Johnson.

Man, that's terrible. You knew he wasn't well enough to coach, but you hoped he wasn't this bad already. :(

Hated facing his defenses but had so much respect for him. Wish him and his family the best and really hope he can fight through this.

I didn't even know he was sick. A fantastic DC; a sad loss for more than just his family. God bless.

FWIW, I always thought Johnson coached and designed defense the way it's supposed to be done. When the Cowboys offense had a good day against Philly's defense with Johnson as the DC, I couldn't help but beam because you felt that the offense really earned it that day. There's not many coaches in the football world that I feel that way. No cheating, no bragging, just good (and at times great), honest, attacking football.

I can only hope he somehow gets better. My thoughts are with him.
