Correspondent Written on February 14, 2010 Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson believes the team has a shot to play in the Super Bowl it will host next year. "They made progress," Johnson said Sunday at Daytona International Speedway. "Winning the first playoff game and having success in December were strides. I don't think they're that far away. They are in the mix when you pick the better teams for next year." Johnson thinks the Cowboys still need game-breaking threats if they're to take the next steps. While he was impressed with the emergence of wide receiver Miles Austin, Johnson said the Cowboys need another receiver on the other side. "If they get a couple of game-breakers, they'll be right there," he said. "As much as I like Austin, they still need a game-breaker at wide receiver. With Roy Williams, the jury is still out. But I'm beginning to believe maybe he's not the guy. If they had a game-breaker on the other side, that would help."

You left out the rest of the article.

He is the national spokesman for ExtenZe, a male-enhancement product. The company was the primary sponsor for the car driven by Travis Kvapil in Sunday's Daytona 500.

Johnson didn't mind being associated with ExtenZe because that type of product has become so mainstream.

"They've gone into Walmart, CVS and Walgreens," he said. "Over a million pills have been sold over the years so it must be working for a lot of people. I thought it was a good entry for me to get into NASCAR.

Miles Austin not a game-breaker? I believe he's a combination of both, can get you the 10 to 20 yard tough catch but can run the deep routes as well. I think Jimmy has been drinking a little too much...

But I see what he's talking about here.

Austin has convinced me that he'll be a quality WR for years. He's a legit #1, but I'll fall short of calling him elite just yet.
He's not quite TO or Irvin in their primes.

I think Ogletree can be the guy we need opposite Austin.

The Rams COULD be a Superbowl team in 2010.

I'm sorry, but I'm getting a bit sick of Jimmy Johnson.

Yeah but how many guys are?

Those guys are the elite of the elite.

If he has another season next year like he did this year than he is elite in todays NFL.

Over what?

This need to overtalk the Cowboys when it's convenient and then pile on them when things aren't going well. I like to see people take a consistent stance. If they aren't any good, they aren't any good.

See, I think I know the problem here. You want less Cowboys talk and you're on a Cowboys forum. It doesn't take a lot of common sense to go look for what you want to talk about and quit infecting this forum with that crap.

I don't like hype. I think the problem is that I don't buy into it. When people try to hype this team, it ends up annoying me. Did the Cowboys show progress this year? Sure they did and I was thrilled with the season aside from how it ended, but that doesn't mean anyone should be saying they could be in the Superbowl next year. I don't know what about losing by 31 in the playoffs suggests primed for a Superbowl run.

I'm seeing that as well. He looked like a real pro to me. Every second of game action I saw on him. The live plays and the iso replays of him running his route.
He just looks really good. Nothing like a rookie. With or without the ball the ball in his hands.
Two things that really stuck out for me were how well he caught the ball. Nothing even close to a drop. Every ball was just plucked out of the air. No bobbles, no double clutches.
He look wide open on a lot of his plays. We are talking about a small sample size here, but it demonstrates to me some real speed, quickness and route running ability.

I'd really like to see a Youtube clip of every play of him on tape.

Not only does he have the physical abilities but the guy made plays that a lot of other guys don't make.

That tipped ball against Minny was a great play. Not a lot of people will remember it but it saved us early on in that game.

Also who can forget about the ownage of Asante Samuel?

He is a different kind of receiver and doesn't play like your typical 6'3 215 pound guy. Dudes a bullet.

Why is everyone so high on a guy who caught screen passes last year???? Everyone always falls in love with the low draft pick/undrafted players that we have somehow hit nail after nail on here lately. The Ratliff/Romo/Austin's of the world are rare. If Ogletree turned out to be player - I don't know what I'd do.

But I do know something - lots of people are hyping this kid. Let him actually catch 35-45 passes that aren't screens and I'd be hyping him, too.

Speculation that a final 8 NFL team can make the SB the final year is not hype.

I'm not buying into you as a Cowboy fan.

You are without a doubt one of the worst posters on this forum. No grasp of the game or History or quite frankly anything. That last comment is pure ignorance at its finest. I don't give a damn what you don't like or what annoys you and your lace panties. Shut your festering gob. Please.

They made the final 8 in 2007, played better once they got there than they did this year and were hyped to the high heavens going into the next year. I admittedly bought into it, but where did we go from there? I don't even have to mention the score.
