He ruined his rep by going to Miami, his myth would've been stronger had he simply gone out on top in 1993 like he had, ego ruined both men football wise.

Their egos ruined both of them. They were both on top of the world and they each decided that the basement was better.

I disagree.

I think you have to judge the guy based on what he did in Dallas.

When you leave the Dallas Cowboys Organization, whether retirement or going to another team, you have either solidified yourself as a ROH member or you haven't as it doesn't matter what you do as a member of other organizations.

Jimmy Johnson has as many Super Bowl wins as Tom Landry.

When does Jerry swallow hard and put Jimmy in the Ring?
I'm going to state a hard line opinion. Not as disrespect to Jimmy Johnson, but because it's been a long time coming and Jerry Jones should fix it. And soon.

He should induct Drew Pearson first. Just my two cents.

I always thought there should be a ton of guys up there. Fill the whole ring up. 2 levels. We've had the talent on this team to do it. I can think of 20 players that you could put up there.

Denver's stadium is littered with names in their ring. I always thought it was cool.

A better question is, with the new stadium opening, has the window for Landry's Cowboys to get in the ROH closed forever?

I dont think so, especially if Reeves comes back and has a role here.

Miami has nothing to do with ROH in Dallas.

Besides... he has old man Dan. It was a no win situation.

Besides-besides... he was only instrumental in building a Dallas Dynasty that netted 3 of 4 SB wins. Probably 4 straight had he not be fired.(No I didnt say quit.. I said fired) It doesnt matter what he says years later... we know what happened.

His only chance is at least 2 years, probably more like 5 after [IF] Jerry wins a SB without Jimmy, not counting the Barry SB win.

Then Jerry can actually say he got one without Jimmy, even though he would never say it in public. But by putting Jimmy in the ROH a fews years after will be saying it.

As soon as Jerra's men figure out how to get the most cash out of such a spectacle Jerra would plan.

And, may I add and IMHO, Jimma deserves to be in the ring just as does Landry.

Absolutely, a solid player.

Yet, still second tier. In the pantheon of Dallas Cowboy greatdom, I don't see Bates figuratively rubbing shoulders with Staubach, Hayes, Emmitt, Irving, Lilly, Cornell Green, Dandy Don and Harvey Martin.

Bates did not attain that level of play. He was mediocre to good but mostly inactive in between crunching hits when he caught up with somebody.

Naw. He's second-tier. He's certainly no Woody, either.
