Jimmy Johnson in ROH?

Without a doubt Jimmy should be up there...

Should already be. The guy was only directly responsible for 40% of our SB's and the Switzer led championship really was Jimmy's. We might have won 4 in a row if Jimmy coached right through. It's sickening the lack of credit Jerry has given Jimmy.

Miami has nothing to do with ROH in Dallas.

Besides... he has old man Dan. It was a no win situation.

Besides-besides... he was only instrumental in building a Dallas Dynasty that netted 3 of 4 SB wins. Probably 4 straight had he not be fired.(No I didnt say quit.. I said fired) It doesnt matter what he says years later... we know what happened.

QFT-infinity
I'm of the opinion that if they aren't HOF worthy than they should not be ROF worthy (not talking about the snubs) and as a whole Mr. Johnson did not have a HOF career.

1989- 1-15
1990- 7-9
1991- 11-5 1-1
1992- 13-3 3-0
1993- 12-4 3-0
1996- 9-7 0-1
1997- 8-8
1998- 9-7 0-1
1999- 8-8 0-1

1991-1993 were solid and 1992 was stupendous.
Dallas was 35-12 in those regular seasons and 7-1 in the playoffs/ Super Bowls

But his career coaching record declined from 43-36

7-1 in playoffs

to

34-30 and 0-3 in playoffs

Career standing ended as 77-66 7-4 in playoffs.

He won't be enshrined at Canton but he'll be remembered as a crucial building block to the 90s dynasty.

Thats cool.
I see your point. I just cant put too much weight in Miami job. Miami was a joke and has been for years(sans this year).

I am of the opposite mindset. He was a MVP to the Dallas Cowboys organization... so if he only was inducted into the ROH... I think it would be fitting.

That makes it even funnier.

I will go to the blackboard and write 100 times....

"I believe that Jimmy Johnson wanted to retire after winning back to back SB's"

I'm going to state a hard line opinion. Not as disrespect to Jimmy Johnson, but because it's been a long time coming and Jerry Jones should fix it. And soon.

He should induct Drew Pearson first. Just my two cents.

:clap2:

I've been saying this for years. Long overdue. And if Roger can't get through to Jerry, then it's going to be tough.

Jerry is showing he can be just as vindictive as Tex Schramm was with Lee Roy Jordan. Plus, Jerry prefers inducting whom he considers the marginal guys either right before, or right after they die.

If Drew gets really sick, then he may have a chance with Jerry. :(

In general:

The thing is... and I can only speak for myself. I want the Cowboys to win by just about any means necessary. Yes there are some limitations to that.

Thats my bottom line. Unfortunately, I feel some would just rather be right than win - thats sad.

Side: If my least favorite player made the play that won the SB - he would be my favorite. Thats just how I am built.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jerry get inducted soon.

Its hard not to draw that conclusion when you read some of those posts.

For me, of course I want the Cowboys to win. I also want to discuss them no matter what.
  1. But I want to have productive conversation where people, including myself, don't see every view point they have as being perfectly formed and neyond doubt.
  2. I want to discuss the Cowboys with people willing to have their thinking shaped by the other fans with a well-thought out position.
  3. I want to discuss with people who have enough humility to admit that they might be off-base or just a bit too riled up to think clearly - hey, it happens!
  4. I want to discuss with people who have the maturity to disagree but not shout down the other view points at every turn.
  5. I want to post with people who respect other posters opinions even when they disagree.
  6. I want to discuss with people who recognize they don't have all the answers because nobody does.
  7. I want to discuss with people who can laugh at themselves in the process.
Now really, how hard should that be? :laugh2:

ALOT of "I's" in there... TO is that you?

I kid, I kid.

Actually I agree with every one of your 7 points.

I have more than once posted in here that I have learned alot from other posters and have no problems saying so.

My sweetie is a giant fan. As a consequence we both spend time on both boards scooching each other. I can tell you hands down, and he agrees with me, we are by far the best posters. The other board is made up of the most intolerant people you can imagine. Kudos to us'n.

When does Jerry swallow hard and put Jimmy in the Ring?
I wouldn't have used those exact words, but Jimmy deserves to be in the ROH. That is all.

Jerry has a lot of animosity for Drew Pearson. I don't see him getting in.

There are some good players who are worthy, but in my opinion, it's a travesty that Harvey Martin isn't in the ROH. He's the best pass rusher in team history and was one of the game's dominant players for 7 or 8 years.

Likewise Jimmy Johnson. If they hadn't fallen apart, I think we'd have won 5 SBs in the 90s. Jimmy had his shortcomings and is partly to blame, but I mostly blame Jones and his ridiculous ego for pulling that team apart.

I think we would've had more than three, that's for sure. And most likely avoided the 5-11 years also. The total lack of talent brought in by Jerry and Lacewell in the mid to late 90's was abysmal. Obviously with players aging and FA, the dynasty wasn't going to last forever. But with Jimmy here, or at least a competent replacement, we would've kept it going longer and the downfall wouldn't have been so far either, imo.

Jerry really screwed it all up, but by golly, the man just wants to win more than anything!!!111!!!111!!!!!

I watched this the other day. Made me laugh.

Check out two marks.

1:15 - Aikman holding up a team mates son - pretty cool
1:25 - looks like Jerry is saying "get him out of here" :laugh2:
