This Offense could already score...I was really hoping for someone that would have came in and made this defense great...esp considering we have went defense in the first round of the drafts of late.

im tired of the defensive mindframe parcells had everybody. that turned out to be how the cowboys played in games too defensive. me i ready for an attacking style of football, not just defensively. but attitude aswell. tired of having this team be soely dedicated to young talent on defense while its stuck with the same aging talent on offense that wears down late.

again like in the past 4 yrs, we as fans complain about the OL every week, but when the offseason comes most all just talk about defense. of the defense needs this and that, and think somehow the OL will be fine. the Ol wasnt fine this yr, it was the presense of owens taking that saftey deep with him.

for this team to be legit, they have to fix that OL first and foremost. thats not going to happen with a defensive minded coach.

weird. Still will have to here formally.

Seems silly to me not to at least talk to rivera.

So I guess Todd Bowles will take over the defense.

I hope we keep pasqualoni and Tony Sporano. Sporano has payed his dues and had good results wherever he has been.

I, personally, believe that Monday's interview with Turner is more an interview about Singletary than anything else.

By the way, I like the Turner move. A couple of Cowboy guys (Turner/Garrett) is hard to not be excited about.

On the bright side, maybe this assures us that they will address the offensive line and getting a young WR in the offseason/Draft. Just trying to be positive!

One of my biggest hopes is that hiring a Norv Turner will result in the Cowboys going back to looking for those big ol' smashmouth offensive lineman, rather than the "dancers" Parcells seemed to prefer...

To me, THAT was the heart of the Jimmy Johnson Dallas Cowboys; I honestly believe that at one point, the Boys had the best NFL offensive line ever... Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Larry Allen, Mark Stepnoski, Erik Williams, all of them multiple time Pro Bowlers... nearly 1600 pounds of offensive lineman on the hoof, even with Stepnoski having to put rocks in his pockets to make 270...

OK, Step wasn't a "big ol' smashmouth offensive lineman", he was a LITTLE ol' smashmouth offensive lineman... LOL...

The only positive I see to hiring norv honestly is that he was at the senior bowl all week.

He was there last year also with the niners staff and the niners pulled michael robinson the penn state qb and norv made him a 3rd down back in sf this year. They did a great job with him.

So hopefully he can do something like that this year.

Maybe a scintillating hire at the defensive coordinator position is on the horizon (though I rather suspect it will be Todd Bowles)...

Step was always "stoned" during games...he thought he was a monster! :D

Actually, he had probably the best leverage for as small of a lineman that he was...

The one thing that I find positive in the Norv. hiring is the Frank Gore was a beast this year. Maybe Julius and Baber along with Romo will benefit from his knowledge.

The OL does need fixing.....and so did the defense from the Saints game on. That being said, I doubt Jerry has made a decision yet and I certainly wouldn't trust JJT's word on it.

Whatever Jerry does, there will be criticism. We're just off to an early start here on the Zone....trend setters.

Norv had top offenses? He had ONE Top 10 offense in his entire head coaching Career.

The rest of the time they toiled in the 15-16 range or slipped into the 20s

werent the triplets a top offense?

Hey, maybe Norv doesn't have Parcells' allergic reaction to the thought of drafting an offensive lineman in the first round... maybe he's had his shots or something...

Jus-tin Bla-lock... Jus-tin Bla-lock...

So let it be written, so let it be done...

Tui was already here, he was a converted Defensive tackle from the landry-brandt-tex days. Newton was here also.

Erik williams and larry allen were the only two of that crew drafted when turner got here. The rest were already here. Ron stone was brought in while norv was here, but he was a backup who went to be a starter in ny.

We can only hope.

But I think it will be Bowles, too.

Uh, why not?

Almost all defensive coaches love ball-control offenses. Rivera himself was saying he loves smashmouth football with the occasional deep shot (which is pretty much what the Bears run now). Can't do that without an Oline.

the defense needs to play smarter. not really need fixing. parcells said all the time, that the defense was always in the posistion they needed to be in to make the play, they just didnt make it for whatever particular reason.

Do those supporting Norv for HC not understand that there are qualites that go into making a successful HC besides Xs and Os?

I'm not being sarcastic or demeaning to anyone, but think about it for a minute. There are definite qualities of leadership that go beyond knowledge of schemes, etc. It's about leading a group of men and an organization and having the respect of everyone on the team and in the organization.

Norv has NEVER had those qualities and now by all accounts he's being brought in to "tutor" the apprentice so Garrett can take over the reins in a year or so. That is a ridiculous plan for running a football team.

If Jerry is that sold on Garrett as a "rising star", just go ahead and name Garrett the HC for pete's sake. As John Madden told Al Davis when he hired him as a very young coach..."if I can't do it now, I won't be able to do it when I get a few years older."

If you have to go bacl 12 years when he was a coordinator to say he was good something is wrong

When Norv ran the show his offenses were middle of the pack

parcells himself said the same crap, and what happened there?
