Yeah....that's the ticket.

like Norv knows the 1st thing about running a team

just ask Commander fans, I know they're idiots, but they had to live w/ Norval as HC

I love how we operate under the assumption that Parcells micromanaged, and stifled everyone, with a total lack of evidence or support for such a stance.

Sean Payton should be able to provide even more support to your loving attitude.

There is a difference between "influencing" and "dominating".

yeah sure..

Because holmgren, belichik, billick and andy reid dont dominate?

sure thing.

Sometimes you just have to grow you staff from within... you just can't always "take" from other teams.

For sure.. but to have a tri-fecta of question marks all at once and all of a sudden?

Be one thing if 2 of the 3 pieces had already been here in their respecyive roles for a time and one of them moved on. Then sure, promote a guy up to the next level.

JJ just made the announcement and these are the reactions. I love it.

Question?

Is that bbgun at the bottom of those pictures?

idk why they think HCs just step away and let other people have the most influence on gameday

Head coaches typically do not get involved in "X's & O's".

Get some popcorn... this is a double feature much to your chagrin. ;)

If you did not like parcells doing the x's and o's...than why also hire Norv who would be tutoring and helping Garrett? I also guess that Sean Payton had nothing to do with the X's and O's with the saints...or insert other HC names as well.

It is like a double sided view here I am not getting.

are you serious?

Yes I am.

Why have coordinators if the head coaches are forced to call all the plays?

Maybe you aren't aware that teams have offensive and defensive coordinators?

I understand your challenge now.

You mean with all the wonderful things he said about parcells, about how Parcells really helped him, about how much he values his time with Parcells?

That stuff?

Clearly those are the words of a stifled man.

When does "helping" and "tutoring" mean "dominating"?

answer me this Winky

why do most coaches call in the plays? the coordinators make the gameplans, the coaches decide if they are going to be utilizied, and tinker w/them, HCs dont' just sit back and say, "ok, I'm calling your gameplan"

Here's a stock answer - and I'm just taking a shot in the dark here;

Norv Turner is not Bill Parcells.

IDK. It makes me giddy too. If by "giddy" you mean "weakens my bowels."

But hey, whatever makes Parcells leaving and Norval signing on seem like a good idea is ok by me. It's just that I could get drunk and come up with some great ideas about Parcells that would have similar validity - facts be damned.

Norv's gonna be a great HC because he's not going to be a control freak like Parcells.

Yeah....that's the ticket.

Zimmer certainly made it sound like Parcells stifled the defense.

If you have proof that he didn't please share. :)

:laugh1:

I still see it as being mad at Bill...yet being ok with norm.

You can word it helping, actually calling or dominating if you want.

It is still double sided talk to me.

However...I guess if they are not from New York you have no reason to worry. Because I know you don't have such a wait and see and it will be ok attitude with some of the New York (including Buffalo) players and coaches.

You bring up Mumbles as a person that looked bad at cleveland and came out ok...but then again I don't recall Bill struggling at two separate stops and then going on before having a good run.

Who says most head coaches call in the plays?

Zimmer also was not exactly a trail blazer concerning having an attacking, heavy sacks and turn over stats game plan prior to bill either...would you agree with that?

No, he didn't.

The guy who recapped Zimmer's press conference made it sound like that.

How about a long line of coaches flourishing in today's NFL. How about them ACTUALLY (and by actually - I mean this is what they ACTUALLY said, not what I inferred) saying they value Parcells influence.

That trumps some bogus recap every day of the week.

just watch the games and you'll see most coaches w/ the big board in front of their face calling in the plays, again, they don't differ to the assistants, tell them to make up a gameplan, and he won't look until he calls in the plays

Listen... Jerry is a brilliant business man. And I can tell you people don't become mult-millionaires from being "stupid".

There is no doubt in my mind that Jerry has "learned". Is it enough?

We'll see in 2007.
i agree that he's a brilliant business man, but so is daniel snyder, mark cuban, bill gates and michael dell. and i wouldn't want any of them running the cowboys either. we'll see. too bad jerry can't fire himself if he doesn't cut it.
