We've probably heard a few Rumors about Fisher might end up getting the Axe from Tennessee Titans after a horrible season, but what I would like to ask if hes such a great Coach than what is the problem with the Titans this year. I just hope hes not starting to get burned out as a Coach? What is your opinion regarding Fisher?

They lost their DC, Fat Albert, and their two starting cb's are hurt. Not to mention Kerry Collins has been turrible so far.

I like Fisher.
The house of cards came down on those guys this season and it is now an out of control snowball. Those tight early loses (OT at Pittsburgh, etc) took their toll...and yes, they do miss their D coordinator and Albert--plus they are devasted by injuries. That does not excuse their showing last week, but it explains much of the rest.

Fisher is a better HC than Wade though.

Couldn't agree more. I don't think Fisher is the best HC in the world, though I'm certainly a fan of him, but I definately think he's an upgrade over Wade.

LOL. And yet the GREAT coach has only ONE more divisional title than the worst coach in the history of the league, Wade Phillips. Fisher has achieved the playoffs a whopping ONE season more than Wade. And Fisher has been a HC going on 16 seasons compared to Wade's 9 seasons (that includes the truncated Saints & Falcons' tenures).

Fisher is a good HC, at best. He is far from GREAT.

Where in his sentence, that you quoted, did he make the claim that Fisher was great? I don't recall seeing that word in there at all.

Rampage;3024220 said:
how do you figure? linebackers in the 4-3 have to be faster and better in coverage than 3-4 linebackers. James is not fast or good in coverage. plus he's not smart enough to be a MLB in a 3-4 let alone a 4-3.

Man you really hate Bradie James don't you?

You should get it right first before you throw it out there.

It's not whether he has the title of general manager, it's about how much control he maintains and the way he run things. If he controls most of the personnel decisons and hires many of the assistants and let's the players go over the coaches head and come directly to him, then yeah, the team will likely never amount to anything.

But if he does what he did when Jimmy and BP were here, ie, hire a quality HC, let the HC control his own staff, allow the HC to have considerable say in personnel decisons, and give the HC the proper authority he deserves to do his job, then we can still be successful even if Jerry remains "GM".

Excellent post from Bach here. People give this guy, myself included, a really hard time on the Jerry stuff but I have to agree with him here on this post.

I really like Fisher too but I REALLY hope that you're dead wrong about Garrett.

He coaches a team with a very tight fisted owner. They seriously never get any talent there except the ones that are home grown so that hamstrings him a bit.

They lost their D-Line anchor (Though I still contend that he was only such because he was in a contract season the last two years and busted his butt for that reason and that reason alone), his top 2 corners are out and thats made their secondary, one of the best last year, into one of the worst this year. He has no QB, at all. Collins got the last of his ability on display last year. Now he's finished. VY is still just garbage. Though Fisher was part of the team that drafted him so you do have to put that on him to be fair.

They have no recievers there worth anything, outside of Kenny Britt who they just drafted this year so they can't get a passing game going. Lendall White doesn't appear to be the same this year now that he's lost all that weight to try and have a contract season.

There are tons of factors working against him for just why that team is so horrible. He shoulders part of the blame, for certain as he's the HC, but he's not the total problem and he's still a very good HC. I'd take him here over quite a few of the other options.

Fisher > Wade, Garrett, Shannahan (More so because Shannahan would require a complete over haul of our O-Line which we've spent too much money on to do that), Gruden

Right now I'd say Cowher is still my favorite, though I know that's a pipe dream, followed by Holmgren and Dungy. I'd take 1 of those 3 over Fisher but I'd gladly take Fisher over any of those other names that I've seen thrown out to this point.

I've always liked Fisher and he's much better than all the HC's Jerry's hired not named Jimmy or Bill.

But when you look at it, they've had a lot of "nice" seasons but only made it to one SB and that was 10 years ago and ended in a loss. And right now they are totally stinking the joint up.
I concur - always liked Fisher but the results are alot more average than you might think. And the Titans are in complete collapse - this team has quit 6 games in. I am not sure I could pull the trigger on him.

I'd also like to see what Fisher might be able to do with a franchise QB on his team. McNair was a solid, sometimes great, QB but he wasn't upper tier, IMO. Collins certainly isn't and neither is VY.

I'd like to see what Fisher could do with a team that has a bit more talent on the offensive side of the ball cause I do believe he's a quality HC.

I am pretty shocked at all the love for a coach who is WINLESS this season. How many defensive minded HCs have let an opposing team score 59 on them? The Pats game was no fluke, the Colts trampled them by 20+ the week before and the Jags (THE JAGS?!??) also beat them by 20.

The Titans are coming off a 13-3 season and SB aspirations for 2009. Are you people letting this sink in?

Didn't the all mighty Jimmy Johnson once get a 60 burger put on his Dolphins ? I'm just sayin'

Fisher would want the video screen raised. Too expensive.

If Fisher wanted it in his living room, we'd be stupid if we didn't get it done.

It's popular to beat up on Fisher right now but seriously, Fisher is one of the best HCs in the NFL. We'd be lucky to get him IMO.

I'm listening to his radio show as we speak. Bud Adams has put fisher on notice. Biddle said Jerry would love to have fisher and rub it into Bud Adams face. The only sticking point is that the titans would owe fisher 21 million, Biddle also pointed out that if he were to keep fisher Defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil would have to go. If fisher dosen't approve Adams could give him the axe.....stay tuned.

Watching the Titans this year I would want nothing to do with Jeff Fisher. He's obviously another one of these worn down coaches who's reached the end. He has to take responsibility for the play of his team. Years of coaching can wear a coach down and Fisher looks worn down. It makes no sense bringing in a coach who's team looks worse than the Cowboys. There's no excuse for a team to go from 13-3 to 0-6 in one year and take a 59-0 beating in the process. The Titans look like they've quit of on Fisher so I say NO THANKS to Jeff Fisher. The Cowboys need a young, energetic coach who has fresh idea's. A coach they grow with into the future with not some aging retread. We don't need a burnt out coach who's been worn down from 16 years of coaching. Just look how Fisher has aged in the past few years. It's a wonder he doesn't get charged extra at airports for those bags under his eyes. He looks and sounds tired...NOT INTERESTED!

We've only got our last 2 from the Recycle bin.

Landry had never been a Head Coach.

Jimmy and Barry had not in the NFL.

Chan never had.

Dave never had.

Only Parcells and Phillips have.

The Offense is #1 despite some key injuries. I'll be shocked if it is anyone but Garrett and I openly admit I like Shanahan, Fisher, Holmgren, Billick, and Cowher too. But as you say, they are the recycle bin.

The thing about Fisher though that I will defend is Tennessee is not supposed to be a power. Bud Adams is never going to win again. His success will always be limited to the AFL Championships the Oilers won pre-Super Bowl. Free Agents are never going to clamor to go to Tennessee the same way they will for other franchises.

Fisher in Dallas could be amazing. I won't deny it. He's a great football mind.

Why not dream bigger though? Let's go get the Hoodie from New England.

I am not sure what your point is. I never said EVERY coach was from the recycle bin. Its just that all the talk is of recycled coaches. I WANT GARRETT.

You just dont like when a few agree with me :D:lmao:

Why is Fisher so great? I could EASILY see a Josh McDaniels-type going in there and making the Vince Young QB experiment work OR getting a 2nd stringer like Orton to work in their system.

Fisher is SOOO GREAT. I dont know why... but I would love to learn why....

Dude don't even talk about dreaming about something like that. If there was some way to get the Hoodie from New England I'd be stoked. I know people hate him and all that, and he's got no class and all that stuff, but I frankly don't care. Winning is the name of the game and he does a darn good job with that.
