The timing does worry me. He must've been having a bad camp.

Keep in mind that as a vested veteran, his salary would have been guaranteed in week one.

I see it as a team that knows it's going nowhere cutting costs.

Now, why you would still have Brock Osweiler on your roster? I can't answer.

His best playing days are far behind him. He's had a lot of groin issues that don't appear to ever have fully healed, hence getting cooked last year.

If I'm him, I take a year off to get healthy and try and revive my career next summer - there's always a team that's CB-starved, but I'd want to be 100% healthy to put some amazing film out there again for one more big deal. Come back on a 1-year prove it, then actually prove it, and cash in.

Exactly...I believe 4 years or more is vested.

Usually I'm not for veteran players but if the team grades him out higher that Marquez White...what do you have to lose with a short term deal? White likely makes it to the practice squad at this point.

I could see this coming down to us and Philly TBH.

They are already talking about him in Philly.

FWIW, Schefter is saying the Saints and Chiefs are very interested in him.

I doubt we will have any interest. They love them some Nolan Carroll and Haden will probably be too pricey for them.

The Browns couldn't have released him if he had a detectable injury, but they likely released him because they expect the chance of injury is high and they would be locked into paying an injured player a large amount of money. In other words, his release may be a risk-vs-reward scenario the Browns were not will to take.

As for what he does now, if he were younger, I think taking a year off would be his best option. However, he's 28, so after a year off he would be 29 and if he played on a one-year contract next year, he would then be looking for a new big contract in two years at age 30. Not saying he couldn't do it, but he would be gambling heavy on himself having a great year next year.

As we all know, NFL careers can be short and disappear without warning. Players are constantly told to get as much money as you can now and worry about next season next season, so I think what he will likely do is find the best deal he can get now with a team willing to overpay him out of desperation for corner help. Now, if no offers or at least offers he wants to accept come in this season, he may very well take a year off and return next season when he would hopefully be more healthy and fully recovered.

He's a better name than player. Pass, largely due to the cost versus actual return.

The Saints and Chiefs are among the team's with the least amount of available cap space. One has $4 million and the other $7 million.

Neither has the resources right now to get too pricey.

Think of this way with Carroll. anyone who leaves the eagles ends up decent

Actually, we look to have gotten fooled twice.

Cedric Thornton hasn't come close to earning the contract they gave him. And I think they'd cut him in a second if they could afford to financially.

Haden would help us no doubt but he will be too expensive.

I think everyone is overlooking what the cost will be. Aging CB that got cut and has had reoccurring injury problems. He's looking at a 1 year deal to prove he can still play at a high level. And with the cap room we have I don't see why not take a shot.

I really thought Thornton was a smart signing. He was a very steady and productive player in Philly. I guess the conversion from a 3-4 DE in Philly to a 1-tech in a 4-3 didn't go as planned.
