Joe Theismann: Any GM who trades for Tony Romo's 'damaged goods' should lose his job

His neck injury was degenerate. Romo has no degenerate issues that I know of.

Degenerative (adjective)
-Loss of function
-Tending to decline and deterioration

Romo's spine isn't the same. At all. And if 3 collarbone breaks don't tell you there is risk for more...you aren't paying attention.

One of the known issues with herniation is weakness or re-herniation.

Romo had a cyst removed in his back a few years ago. Dave Siebert, M.D. writing for the Bleacher Report, back in 2013 wrote this:

"Whether or not this latest development relates to the cyst is anyone's guess, but from a medical standpoint, it very well could if the cyst—or the surgery to remove it—invaded or weakened tissues in or around his spine."
This was written before the 2014 season where we saw another herniation. You think all is well now?

Please post anything that says that Romo has a degenerative medical condition.

Your googling so far has not met the standard. 'May have' is speculation. You are once again portraying speculation as fact.

NFL teams make dumb decision every year.

At this time last year NObody would have believe that Sam Bradford would fetch a 1st. He has been oft injured and is not that good when healthy. At least Romo is good when he is on the field.

GMs often get desperate to win Now. If a GM thinks he is going to get fired without a winning season, then draft picks are not as important to him as they are to team that are on a long term plan.

If the Niner's GM gets another year, he could be one of those that is desperate for a QB.

People all too often base other people tendencies based on what they would do. They don't like Romo and therefor no one could want him.

You should hope the Broncos, or any other team, feel the same way.

Again, Manning missed one season - 16 games - for his entire career, prior to his last season playing.

Romo's injury track record doesn't come close to that.

It's bad, and it will be a huge factor for any team that's thinking of acquiring him.

Could be, but u can bet there will be that silly little condition tag on there.

And the other day on the radio, they were talking about Romo's stretching. They said he can hardly touch his knees, forget about touching his own feet.

Ill say this much, the slide he made vs Seatle was the most awkward stiff looking slide Ive ever witnessed, even prior to being hit. His back was bothering him in the preseason. Im greatful for what he gave us but the human element makes me wish hed retire and save whats left of himself.

Favre, Brady, Manning, Brees all beg to differ

The Jets gave a third-round pick for Favre, not a first round.
Brady hasn't been traded. Manning was a free agent sign for the Broncos and Brees still plays with the Saints after being released from the Chargers at a young age.
I don't see how those examples contradict anything I've said. In fact, they seem to support my position that Romo won't be traded for a first-round pick.
I think he will play for another team. We just won't receive first-round compensation for him.

I can see Denver taking a chance trading a late round draft choice...

#1 - I've never said he brings back a #1, I'm thinking its something like a #2 or a group of conditional picks.

And like @bkight13 said, job insecurity makes it MORE likely a GM trades a draft pick for a veteran Pro Bowl QB - not less.

There may be some non-Romo fans here but me? My name here is T-Ro...what do you think that stands for?

As much as I believe in Romo...I believe in Father Time more. Then when Father Time starts cutting up body parts with a surgeons' blade...repeatedly...I know who wins that battle and it ain't Tony.

3 collarbone surgeries...3 back surgeries...enough!

In the past 100 times Romo has gone back to pass he's sustained major injury 3 times. Some people can look square at something and not even see it.

Still waiting for something indicating he has a degenerative condition.

You disgrace Tony Romo.

Romo was an elite athlete. He could do stuff like this:

If you can't see the stiffness and lack of mobility now...the shell of athletic prowess...I think you spit on the greatness that was Romo then.

No...I'm not playing your dark game anymore.

You claimed that he had a degenerative condition. I am holding you to your word. If that is a dark game to you then so be it.

Of course he is not as athletic as he was when he was in his 20s. I wasn't discussing that but I can see why you would want to deflect.

There was a time Romo's body was an apt vessel for his athletic fire. It was creativity, it was art. It was the penultimate of sport. This is what I choose to remember.

they sure as sugar aren't releasing him and getting nothing........a first will be the price sooner or later

at worst they will restructure his deal and lower his cap hit by 9m and keep him....they will see if a QB gets hurt at anytime until the trading deadline

I'm almost certain that Romo won't be good with this. Guy wants to play, let him.

Having back problems is a serious issue. Whats worst is that he plays a violent sport. I feel bad for him. I really do. I wish that we could have built a real team around him when he was young.

Romo was maybe the best at the league in beating a free rusher coming at him. He can't move like that now.
And, thus, bloke the sitting duck theory makes it doubly important for Tony to walk away from football.
"Walk" being the key word.

I want names. Are they claiming team doctors have cleared a guy to play NFL ball that can't even touch his toes? Why sure they did....
