John Phillips has all but "Wally Pipp'd" Mr. Bennett..

Marty B sure looked good on that home run that Felix busted off.
I think he had the key block. he absolutely had to hold his guy long enough to get Jones get through.

Not sure if you meant it that way, but that's not holding.

When Bennett was out with the concussion Phillips made some very nice plays in the passing game - more than I have seen from Bennett all year.

Great blocker, but Romo does not trust the kid AT ALL.

I would not trade him because I think we need 3 TE's and I hope as he matures he will take his preparation a bit more seriously and become a big playmaker in the passing game.

Here is a thought that I developed while reading this thread and multiple others. It may not be popular but here it goes: Since Anderson's snaps at FB are decreasing and it is a foregone conclusion that he does not contribute much outside of blocking, why not move Barber to the FB for certain plays and feature either Jones or Choice. Barber has the ability to block and also can pound the ball inside or flare out and make key receptions. It would add another dimension to the offense.

I can't remember who was evaluating him, but he basically said that Phillips is a good pass catching option, but his run blocking isn't quite as good as Anderson's or Bennett's.

You'd sure hope that your veteran fullback is better run-blocker than your rookie late round TE. Maybe it's the versatility that has Phillips taking Anderson's position, but make no mistake about it, he's played more fullback in the past two weeks than Anderson has.

Going forward, you'd be hard pressed to say that Anderson is our "starting" fullback. In fact, Phillips got the start at fullback in the wild card game. Not much room on NFL rosters for back up fullbacks.

I'd even be fine with us letting Cricket go in the offseason and having Phillips take his spot. Then we could draft another tight end even.

I think there's some value to having a true bruiser FB on the roster, but if you do you'd like to have the confidence that when he hits the hole leading, he's going to clear out some traffic.
