Where did I say that it hinders progress of the team to sign Kitna for a game? I said it's comical, cause we are re-living our past. Further, you just contradicted yourself, because anything can happen to a Thirty plus year old QB that you need to be developing talent. It happens all the time. What is progress if not team development?

I am really astounded at this post.

I certainly did not contradict myself and you have no idea what you are even arguing about. Good day sir.

I love you as a poster- one of my favs,
but you contradicted yourself in this very thread also.

Ever hear of throwing stones when you live in a glass house?

What progress?
What are you talking about?
This is the final week of the regular season...
The Cowboys are gong to sign some prodigy that's going to sail them into the future?

What?

If Jason Garrett has been HC for 3 years and possesses vision and is setting the precedent for good times ahead and cleaning house of dead weight, why the hell are we in a position of having to sign a retread backup retired journeyman QB, instead of having a young QB we could have been trying to develop. You know like how we had Romo during the Parcells years.

If people are blaming Romo for Changing Garrett's plays all the time, then why in the hell isn't Garrett preparing another QB that doesn't ruin him supposedly?

I understand the need of a stop gap measure. Necessity dictates it. I wasn't even surprised when I read. Kitna on ESPN, because it was just predictable. But when your talking progress and vision with our HC and management, it's just comical that we are back to Jon Kitna again...

That's a good point and I believe I've said almost the same thing within the last hour in a thread.
This team has no plan for their future QB when they should be all-in on that front.
But this last week of the season- what do you expect?
They're going to play it as safe as they can with a guy who knows the plays.

They aren't looking for the next big thing.
You can say that the decisions made in the past brought us to this, but
you want a different decision now- given the circumstances?

And how would that do anything, ANYTHING for the team?

Who is out there that could be a WILDCARD for the future of this team?

Bring the argument...

Honestly, would you rather have a guy that knows the system and is proven to be a capable QB in the NFL or some guy off the street who is a wildcard and may know a handful of plays by game time?

If it gets to where Kitna plays..

..it will just be to run out the clock in a lopsided loss.

Lol

I know- you'd like totally be like, so much better.
You're GM acumen speaks for itself...

As an expert GM, I must ask you- what would you have done in this case?

I crave wisdom on your level...

I think we could have made a play for Josh Freeman during the season based on physical skills alone. We could have gotten him for nothing. He's already shown on the field he can do it. It's a matter of brains though apparently.

But like I said, I just find the fact we in this position as going in circles. We have had seasons where Romo got injured and couldn't go on. We had his recent back injury. The issue with the ribs, yet we are here, without and long term plan.

The part about how signing Kitna for a game or so at the end of the season hinders the progress of the team. The team believes Romo can play for 5-6 more years and it makes no sense to have a draft pick sitting on the bench for that long when there are other positions that need immediate attention. How much longer do I need to repeat myself?
surely no one is dumb enough to think Romo will still be playing at 38-39 years old.

I wouldn't sign a retired player. Might as well have gone after Favre, lol, I know Jerry is Santa to you lol

Btw, JG runs a Mike Martz type of offense, which is why he got Kitna originally... That's why we are back to him. No evolution, nothing... No forward thinking...

The team thinks so, it certainly isn't unprecedented. I think 3-4 range is reasonable, but who knows with his back injury if it is going to be problematic.

I think I am gone and you reel me back in.

Did you not just say earlier in this thread Jason runs a Norv type offense? Which is it?
