SAN ANTONIO – Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones indicated Monday the club will retain embattled defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

“Nothing there,” DallasCowboys.com quotes Jones as saying when asked about the future of Kiffin and offensive coordinator Bill Callahan. “Everybody who’s got a contract, we’re planning on him being there.”

Speaking to reporters at the Senior Bowl in Mobile Ala., Jones also said it was too early to discuss roster moves or the contract status of high-priced players such as defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

Kiffin’s first season in charge of the defense ended with the Cowboys allowing the most yards in franchise history (6,645). In finishing 8-8 for a third straight season, Dallas ranked last in total defense and gave up the first two 600-yard games in franchise history.

Only the 2012 New Orleans Saints (7,042) and the 1981 Baltimore Colts (6,793) allowed more yards than the 2013 Cowboys. In addition, Dallas 388 first downs allowed ranked second-worst all-time behind the 406 yielded by the ’81 Colts.

Firing him isn't gonna make Claiborne and Lee play more games or get a good safety to play beside Church.

I take this as this is it for Jason if he dosent get it done he is done, the new coach would want his own staff. If you are a good coach why take a job when the staff could be turned over at the end of season.

Kiffin has had a whole lot better career then JG, so if he stays Kiff should stay as well.

One more year!

I'm fine with it. Not sure what people were expecting out of Nick Hayden, Jeff Heath, and Devonte Holloman, but I certainly didn't expect more than was delivered.

Did you expect more out of Mo Claiborne, Brandon Carr, Bruce Carter, etc?
